Perhaps my title is a little standoffish? But there's much to be said about the blogging world and how questions such as 'is blogging dead?' cross peoples lips more and more regularly (it's not by the way) nowadays. With the rise in short form video content, blogging in 2022 looks a lot different to how it did when I first started out. With that being said however there are still plenty of reasons to why start a blog in 2022! Here's just a few of them.

Why start a blog?
1. To be creative.
I didn't really know much about blogging when I first started out. All I knew is that I wanted (possibly needed) an outlet where I could be creative! And for me this has been the perfect space to do just so. Even eight years later!
Creativity doesn't just come down to the writing blog posts. It's so much more than that! It's everything from the photography of products, to the blog design, to your branding.
Having a creative outlet can be so beneficial for your mental health! I've personally not suffered with any mental health issues, but having this space as a focus has been massively beneficial.
2. To make new friends online.
The blogging community is huge and probably the best reason to the question 'why start a blog?'
I've learnt so much from the blogging community. Things change so often online it's amazing having such a great support network. Their advice is second to none! And way better than a google search.
I've made some brilliant friends online since I started blogging. Having likeminded people cheering my corner is just the best feeling. I have so many women on my team, I'm fit to burst! I love it!
3. To work with brands you love.
Brands are utilising bloggers and influencers more than ever at the moment. Starting a blog could mean you get opportunities to work with the brands you love. Creating new blog posts for brands will not only bring personal satisfaction, but also the chance to progress and move your blog onto the next level.
I've been fortunate to work with some fantastic brands this year. Although not without hard work! Getting to work with the brands you love isn't going to be an overnight thing! But persevere and you may just make it!
Some of my favourite brand collaborations of the year have been with OpenTable, BloomLocal, CosyHausClub and Wicked Uncle.
4. To learn new skills.
Everyday's a school day right? I absolutely love to learn, and it feels like I'm learning new things about blogging all the time! It's strange to think, but valuable life lessons can definitely be learnt through your little slice of internet. Even if you're just hobby blogging.
As you continue your blogging journey you'll pick up so much. You'll learn about SEO, how to improve your blogs DA score, google analytics and so much more! These are all transferable skills that can be used in the workplace and should be recognised by popping on your CV.
5. To help others.
People give the internet and social media a bad rep, but in my opinion, it's quite the opposite. The internet allows us to connect with others and find solace from those going through similar lifestyle experiences as ourselves.
There are a variety of bloggers advocating for mental health, disability, LGBTQIA+ and so much more. You're never alone when it comes to the blogging world and that's what's so great about it!
It's an amazing feeling knowing you're putting valuable content out there for people to read and find reassurance from. I've had particularly good feedback from new mums. My posts about how to feel like yourself again outside of motherhood and you're more than just a mum, have gone down particularly well. I'm so pleased!
Blogging and influencing is becoming more and more normalised (ick) as a profession. Whether you set out as a hobby blogger or you want to turn a blog into your full time career there's definitely still time and reason to in 2022! If you're googling 'why start a blog' this is your reason! Go for it! Start blogging today - What have you got to lose?

I see people asking is blogging dead and I think the answer is no, but what I do think is so many people think it is super easy to run a blog. They expect to just get it so easy and then when they don’t succeed in the first few months, they claim blogging is dead. These are some really good reasons why you should start a blog. Thank you for sharing.

Blogging is definitely not dead, but it requires time, committment and effort. It's a long haul game but the opportunities, community and skills you acquire are worth it.

Love this post, Claire! It's amazing how differently we all see blogging now than we did 5 years ago (or even less). There definitely are still so many benefits of blogging in 2022. Blogging isn't dead, for sure!
These points are valid and I don't agree blogging is dead at all. I've loved my journey so far and I can't wait to continue it.
Love this post! I started a blog yeaaaars ago because I loved reading beauty blogs, finding out what people had been loving, learning new tips and tricks but I gave up after a while. It's always been a thing I loved doing though, sharing my thoughts and experiences with other people hence why I'm back with a different blog haha. I'd always recommend starting a blog to people 🙂

Blogging is definitely not dead, it's just changed! I love that I have a space that is totally my own away from social media etc which I obviously have so much less control of!

Blogging has definitely changed since I started back in 2016 but it’s not dead. I think people enjoy content that they can take in quicker these days such as TikTok, however I think brands still like using bloggers for collaborations because they can get a permanent link back and more content in return and it’s not something that might be gone in 24 hours like Instagram Stories x
