Tag posts seem to be a thing of the past don't they? Although I'm not so sure why as they do great for boosting your blogs DA & gaining much needed back links. Maybe we've all become a bit SEO focussed perhaps? With that in mind I was thrilled to be nominated in the behind the blogger challenge by two wonderful bloggers... The doubting Thomas & mummy conquering anxiety!

Not only do I like these posts because of how they benefit your blog technically, I also enjoy them because of how they benefit you socially. They're fun, exciting and a great way to get to know the person behind the blog. There's something really old school about these types of posts too. It's reminiscent of 'the good old days of blogging' and I for one am 100% here for it!

Here are 5 things about me which you may not know. This is me, behind the blogger.

Claire Mac. Get to know me behind the blogger.

Me behind the blogger.

1. I'm actually really shy.

I don't know it if comes across in my blog and social media platforms, but I'm actually really shy. I've been this way for as long as I remember. In fact I vividly remember walking up to the front of assembly in primary school as I'd won an award. I said thank you to the head teacher and his response was 'Oh, she actually talks' in his big bellowing voice. That awkward interaction has stayed with me for the last twenty-five years. Sad really! As I've gotten older I've learned to embrace my shyness. I no longer see it as a negative thing. I firmly believe you don't have to be the loudest voice in the room to be heard. And I'm so self assured and unapologetic about who I am now. I feel empowered! I'm quiet, but I'm quietly confident!

2. I can't burp.

The technical term is retrograde cricopharyngeus dysfunction, but yes, you read that right! I can't burp! There's a muscle in my throat which is particularly bad at chilling the fuck out. The inability for the muscle to relax means any burps I do have aren't able to escape. It leaves my chest with a rather annoying and not very quiet croak. It's happening now as I write this! It's uncomfortable, can make me feel sick and may not go away for a couple of hours.

3. I have a Romeo & Juliet tattoo.

I have three tattoos in total, one of which takes inspiration from Romeo & Juliet. If you've seen the film you'll remember the famous scene where they lock eyes on one another through a fish tank. During this scene you'll hear the song 'Kissing you' by Des'ree. I have the first two lines written in calligraphy on my right shoulder. It's one of my favourite songs and it always gives me goosebumps! It's such a fave, I even walked down the aisle to it on my wedding day.

4. My music taste is still in the 90's / 00's.

There's not a lot of 'modern music' which I like! Although I listen to quite a varied genre of music the vast majority of tunes come from either the 90's or 00's. We're big Kisstory fans and I love nothing more than an old school Kerrang play list. I'm listening to one now, hello Linkin Park! You Me At Six are another one of my absolute faves! I still fancy Josh Franceshci just as much now as I did when I was 18.

5. I love stupid comedy.

Think Friday Night Dinner, Drifters or The Inbetweeners... I love stupid comedy! You'll often find me referencing either of these series with my husband on a (probably) daily basis. Some of our favourite phrases are 'this sofa is only £599', 'oh cool the sea' and saying 'wilson' to our dog whilst shuddering. If you know, you know! Please tell me you know. Haha.

The behind the blogger tag.

I've had lots of fun writing the behind the blogger tag. It's been nice to sit down with a brew writing something rather jovial. Because this is a tag post I'm passing the baton over to the following bloggers...

So there we have it. Is there anything in my list which has surprised you? Tell me something random about yourselves in the comments.

I loved getting to know you! I love blogging tags, when I’m able to do them. I sometimes forget I’ve been tagged though.

i enjoyed getting to know you better, claire! 🙂 that's so cool you have romeo and juliet tattoos. i'm always hemming and hauling about wanting a tattoo but always change my mind. I've considered getting one representing The Beatles & the song Let it Be.

    Hi Claire,

Can't burp? That sounds like an advantage to me, not a dysfunction 🙂

Whenever anybody mentions that they have a tattoo I always think:

Not a fan of The Inbetweeners and the like. But, Linkin Park - Yay!

Do you think that you have become less shy since you started blogging?

I can't burp either! I recently saw that someone had had botox in their throat to relax the muscle but I haven't looked into it yet!
