There is no doubt that school and the content taught are of extreme value. However, the benefits of school trips are left in the shadows and come across as a hot topic of discussion. Benefits of School Trips

1. They Promote Independence

School trips increase independence and confidence. Annual residential trips are offered by many schools across the globe with the sole intention of not only educating their students but helping them gain vital skills they’ll need as they grow older. Residential trips may seem daunting at first but it is good to encourage your child to attend. For some, it may be their first time staying away from home so this is a great way for them to get a taste of independence. As they are surrounded by friends and familiar faces, it is a great way to be eased into it resulting in higher levels of self-confidence.

2. Takes Children out of their Comfort Zone

It takes children out of their comfort zones which is essential for personal growth and developing a thirst for trying new things. Trips can push students who aren’t very experimental with activities to branch out and figure out a whole array of things they were previously missing out on. Above all, school trips allow students to enjoy experiences that cannot be replicated in the classroom.

3. Children get to Explore their Skills

They contribute to better learning and understanding. With each trip, your child will grow to learn better skills and explore new surroundings. Many residentials allow students to travel to different countries to learn about the culture and immerse themselves in diverse places. Not only do they gain better social skills but it makes them more aware of their surroundings.

Above all, the benefits of school trips are enough to encourage children to take as much part in them as they possibly can. Not only will they have fun, but will come back with vital life skills that will help shape them into successful adults.

I used to LOVE school trips when I was in school - especially secondary school. I was lucky enough to go to Cornwall for a surfing trip and skiing and I just loved being away from school/home, in a different environment! I have such fond memories from so many trips. School trips can be so beneficial x
