ADPR. I've spoken before about how dressing up for Christmas is a struggle for me. I'm the most casual dresser & pick dressing for comfort over style every day of the week. I never really have a need / excuse to get dressed up, especially as I'm at home most days with the kids. As someone who works from home and spends most of my time with the kids, I don't get all that many opportunities to properly dress up. So when Christmas comes around, I always find myself asking the same question: what on earth am I going to wear to the Christmas party?
Whether you're heading to a work Christmas party, meeting friends for festive drinks or simply want an excuse to get a little more dressed up over the Christmas period, finding a Christmas party outfit that feels like you can be tricky. So, with Christmas just around the corner, I decided to step outside my comfort zone and try three completely different Christmas party outfit ideas. And I need your help choosing my favourite!
Christmas Party Outfits
Christmas Party Outfit No.1 - The Asymmetric Jumpsuit
Is there anything that screams Christmas more than a red Christmas party outfit?
The bright pop of colour instantly makes me feel festive. I love how much of a statement the red makes without needing loads of pattern or embellishment. I'm definitely much more comfortable colour blocking than wearing prints, so this was always going to be a strong contender for me.
The Evelyn asymmetric jumpsuit from Femme Luxe has a wide-leg silhouette which I absolutely love. The asymmetric neckline gives it something a little different, while the wide-leg trousers make it feel much more comfortable than a traditional fitted party dress.
And, surprisingly, I actually feel pretty powerful wearing this jumpsuit.
That's probably one of my favourite things about finding a good Christmas party outfit. It doesn't necessarily have to be covered in sequins or sparkle to feel special. Sometimes a really strong colour and flattering shape can do all the work.
For anyone else who isn't naturally a dressy person, I think a red jumpsuit for a Christmas party is a really easy way to make more of a statement while still feeling comfortable.
What do you think of outfit number one?

Christmas Party Outfit No.2 - The Mini Dress.
Now, let's start with a confession.
I'm not a mini dress kind of girl.
This is probably the outfit I feel the least like myself in, which is perhaps exactly why I wanted to try it.
There's something about this dress, though, that makes me feel a little less "mumsy", which I actually really like. Sometimes getting dressed up is about wearing something completely different from what you'd normally choose.
I absolutely love the burgundy/wine colour of this dress too. It's a really festive shade without being as obvious as bright red, and I think it would work just as well for a date night, girls' night out or another occasion outside of Christmas.
The sleeves are another detail I really like. You can wear them as I have here, or push them off the shoulder for more of a Bardot-style look if you want something a little more glamorous.
It's definitely more daring than what I would usually wear, but perhaps that's the point of a Christmas party?
If you're looking for a burgundy Christmas party dress, I think this is a really lovely option.
Would you choose outfit number two?

Christmas Party Outfit No.3 - The Black Jumpsuit
Hello, slinky black jumpsuit!
I feel like a dolphin in this thing. It's so slinky and smooth that I genuinely feel like a new woman wearing it.
Of the three Christmas party outfits, this one is probably the closest to what I would normally wear. Obviously the fit is much more fitted than my usual everyday clothes, but the black jumpsuit and wide-leg trousers make it feel familiar enough that I don't feel completely out of my comfort zone.
I love the combination of the fitted top and wide-leg trousers. It's simple, flattering and doesn't really need much else adding to it.
Pair it with some barely-there heels, a little jewellery and a clutch and you've got a really easy black Christmas party outfit without having to think too hard about styling.
There is, however, one fairly major problem...
There isn't exactly a huge amount of room in this jumpsuit for mince pies.
It looks lovely on, but it's definitely not the most forgiving outfit when you're planning on eating your way through a Christmas buffet.
And dancing?
I'm not convinced.
Two of my favourite things about Christmas parties are the food and dancing, so this could be a deal-breaker!
What do you think of outfit number three?

How to Choose Your Christmas Party Outfit
If, like me, you're someone who usually reaches for jeans and something comfortable, I think the key to finding a good Christmas party outfit is choosing something that still feels like you.
You don't necessarily need to wear a glittery dress or cover yourself in sequins. A jumpsuit can be just as dressy, while a simple black dress can be transformed with statement jewellery, heels and a great bag.
Colour is also an easy way to make an outfit feel more festive. Red, burgundy, black, emerald green and metallic shades all work brilliantly for Christmas parties, depending on how dressed up you want to feel.
And, most importantly, don't forget comfort. If you're going to be eating, drinking, chatting and dancing all night, you don't want to spend the entire evening wishing you'd worn something else!
Which Christmas Party Outfit Would I Choose?
So, after trying all three looks, which one would I actually choose?
I'm still not 100% decided, but I'm definitely swaying more towards the red asymmetric jumpsuit. It makes me feel incredible, which is probably the most important thing when choosing what to wear to a Christmas party.
The burgundy mini dress is probably the most different from my usual style, while the black jumpsuit is the easiest to imagine wearing again.
But there's something about that red jumpsuit. It's festive, it's comfortable enough to actually enjoy myself in and, most importantly, it feels like me.
So, if I had to choose my favourite Christmas party outfit, I think the red jumpsuit wins!
Now I just need an actual Christmas party to go to...

I like the mini dress - the colour and cut suit you really well. But just like you, I don't feel too comfortable in short dresses, so I completely get the hesitation. The black jumpsuit looks great, but it doesn't feel very christmassy (it also seems like you'd be quite cold in this?). I think the red asymmetric jumpsuit is your winner - it looks fabulously festive on you!
I believe the mini dress looks love for Christmas party, dear. Have a good celebration btw.
I believe the mini dress looks love for Christmas party, dear. Have a good celebration btw. Take care.
I have one of those asymmetric jumpsuits and that black jumpsuit and they look amazing on you! But I think my top pick for Christmas would be the mini dress because the colour is very seasonal and it's super pretty!
I love all of these, but my favorite is the black jumpsuit. I love jumpsuits and you can always pair it with a cute red or green cardigan or blazer for a more "festive" feel. Or even some christmas earrings.
I saw your post on Instagram with these outfits and I loved them all! My favourite though has to be the jumpsuit, it's a gorgeous shade of red! x

Defo the jumpsuit. Thanks for sharing this post, because I feel the same about dressing up. Would do everything in pyjamas if I could!
You look incredible in all of them but the red mini dress screams Christmas party to me. It's a gorgeous colour too.
You absolute queeeen you are glowing - I can't believe you've only just had a little one!
That black jumpsuit is my pick - you look gorgeous in it!

These all look really lovely. I love the idea of the jumpsuits. I think that are great for parties. Which one do you feel most comfortable in I suppose is the question? As I like to choose the outfit I feel most confident and comfortable in.

I think the red colour is your color! It fits so well with you!
I would choose the asymmetric jumpsuit for the Christmas party and the red mini dress for New Year's celebration!
