It can teach them about topics such as fire safety as well as how the world around them works (e.g. particles, the solar system, energy) which is why it’s given such heavy emphasis in schools. Helping develop a love of science
At home experiments
You don’t need fancy lab equipment to carry out science experiments. As there are elements of science all around us and you can test for anything. This can help bring it to life and help children to see just how important it is.
Form hypotheses together
A part of science is creating your own theories and proving/disproving them. This is something that you can have a go at with your child by encouraging them to share their views on things and what they think will happen if they were to experiment.
Point out concepts
Science explains how the world works and there are countless examples that you can point to in everyday life. They can help them see how important it is and create interest.
TV shows
There are a number of educational TV shows that you will be able to find just by clicking through your TV guide like “The Magic School Bus Rides Again”. These aim to teach children science in a fun and engaging way.
