Designing a Creative Space at Home For Creative People with Poster Store.

ADPR. Feeling inspired as a creative person can be really difficult if we're not in the correct interior space. Because of this, designing a creative space is crucial! With a little help from the Poster Store we've transformed our office using inspirational posters and prints. We've made it the most encouraging, idea provoking space it can be.

Pre Poster Store Transformation.

We've just moved into our new home and the room we are using as an office was originally the previous owners sons bedroom. Before transforming the space the room was cold, grey, lacking personality and desperately miserable. You can only imagine how non-inspiring the space was!

Although my husband and I both work very different jobs, we're both in a creative field and needed an office space to reflect that. We wanted to create a personal gallery wall which sparked joy, inspiration and creativity... And I think we've done just that with the Poster Store.

Designing a Creative Space

Finding Inspiration

When it came to designing a creative space we knew the first place we had to visit was Pinterest. Pinterest is amazing for gathering inspiration and is often our first port of call when it comes to work. Poster Stores website is also highly inspirational when designing a creative space. They have a seemingly never ending page of gallery wall inspiration which massively helps spark inspiration.

I don't think you can ever have too much inspiration. It's really handy to see so many different variations of layouts and prints across both Pinterest and Poster Store. You can't not be inspired.

Choosing Prints & Frames

We decided the best thing we could do in designing a creative space is to inject it with colour. We chose bright, punchy prints, all of which we could take design inspiration from. The prints we have are all from the Illustration and abstract section. A no brainer for us when it came to creating a creative space. We also took a mix and match approach when selecting our frames.

We chose the following prints:

• Blooming seed poster 50x70 with oak frame.
• American flamingo poster 50x70 with black frame.
• Blue sky birds poster 30x40 with white frame.
• Great blue heron poster 30x40 with oak frame.
• Vintage magnolia poster 21x30 with black frame.
• The whale poster 21x30 with white frame.
• Tiger illustration poster 21x30 with copper frame.

Taking inspiration from what we saw on Pinterest and Poster Store we chose different coloured frames to go with our prints. We found this to be the most thought provoking and inspiring option when pairing the two together.

Creating The Perfect Layout

Before installing the posters we had a rough idea of the layout we wanted to create. We decided however that instead of precisely measuring everything out like we've done previously, we'd go rogue and just pop them up. I feel this laid back approach is detrimental to creating and designing. a creative space.

We chose to pop six of the posted up on our neutral wall and the seventh we singled out to feature in our cosy reading corner. The A4 whale poster was singled out as the colours within it really complimented the dark navy nook. The style of illustration also works really well with our coffee table books and those that are on the shelves. With regards to our main feature wall we thought best to have the central images as the largest prints, working out in size. This layout works really well and I love how the different styles of print all work really well together.

Post Poster Store Transformation

I'm thrilled with how we've been able to transform our office space with Poster Store. The space is no longer drab and dreary. It's a space which inspires and sparks creativity. I especially love how although we opted for different coloured frames, each one compliments its print perfectly!
