People say you should be on top of the world following the birth of your child. Your body has done something utterly incredible and created the miracle of life. Unfortunately however, it isn’t always as straightforward as this. You go through a lot having a baby, your whole world changes dramatically and so has your body.

So, for some Mums their self-confidence and self-esteem take a drop, and they may consider all sorts of extreme options such as facelift surgeries. It can be a struggle to find ways to be kinder to yourself as a new Mum. Here we will look at some helpful steps you can regain confidence after having a baby.

How to regain confidence after having a baby.

1. Find Other Local Mums

Being a new parent can be tough, and no one knows this like another mum. It can be uncomfortable stepping out and approaching new people, however, in the long term this is so worthwhile.

When you are struggling with lack of sleep, other mums are right there with you, usually with a coffee and an open mind. A good place to start building these friendships is at local playgroups.

That way you can find a new friend for your little one as well as yourself.

2. Believe in yourself.

Despite the feeling of overwhelm and lack of confidence that comes with raising a baby, a lot of mums also find their confidence lacking when it comes to their physical appearance. With sleep deprivation and bags under your eyes, you may not feel you look your best.

You want the world to look at you and think you are in control. So fake it until you make it. Of course, life can be chaotic and behind the scenes, you may not feel in control but keep telling yourself you have this under control.

Building up belief in yourself is the key part of building up your confidence again. If you feel less judged by others you will naturally feel more confident in yourself.

3. Look After Yourself.

To help you feel physically your best, you need to look after yourself. This in itself is a juggling act when looking at a baby, however, it is doable. To help bring back that healthy glow to your appearance you need to sleep when you can. Of course, this won’t eliminate being sleep deprived but it will help you have fewer bags under your eyes and help your skin and face look more healthy, so grab a nap when the baby sleeps.

Remaining hydrated is another must when it comes to looking after yourself. By drinking 8 glasses of water a day will keep you not only hydrated and physically able to face the day ahead but it will help you physically look fresh and well.

Then finally do something that makes you feel more like yourself, taking a few minutes to do your hair, apply make-up will make you feel so much better and more confident when stepping out the door.

I have not yet had my own babies but I see the pressures to get back to normal EVERYWHERE. One of my closest friends had her gorgeous little boy two years ago and I was able to see through her eyes just how hard the struggles can be. It's mad that sometimes as women we're expected to be mummies and absolutely everything else.
I love this post, I'm going to share it with my friend!
