For what's felt like the quickest year of all time, June has been pretty slow for me... But in the best way possible. I took lots of simple joys from May, but this month seems to have topped it. Here are my 7 simple joys in June.

1. We bought a house.
Okay, so possibly the least simplest of all the joys, but I can't not include the fact that we bought a house in my monthly roundup. We'd been looking online for a few months however were told we couldn't start physically looking for our new house until ours had sold. Luckily we got an offer at the beginning of the month which therefore meant we could do the exciting part, and start viewing houses for ourselves. Call us eager, but the house we have bought was only the second one we viewed. You know when you just get that feeling! We can see ourselves raising our family in the new home and that was a simple joy we just couldn't shake! We had to go for it!
2. I turned another year older.
I'm a June baby! I love being a Summer baby, not that I know any different of course, and this year was just wonderful. We spent the day using out National Trust passes (again) exploring the great outdoors. We even made it back in time for a chippy tea! What's not to love!

3.We enjoyed a countryside staycation.
Gosh I felt like our family needed a break. With the impending house move and impending birth (which will no doubt happen within weeks of each other) we knew we had to get away. We enjoyed a countryside staycation in the Yorkshire Dales, nestled on the side of a farm in front of the most glorious lake! Our family holiday was really affordable but more importantly it was nice to get away from it all.
4. I re-found my blogging motivation.
While we enjoyed our staycation I made the decision to take a blogging break. Having the time out was so beneficial in terms of being able to enjoy family time, but also being able to re-find my blogging motivation. I'd like to think I've come back with a bang & a fresh energy I could never have had working my old 9-5.
5. I was published in a magazine.
One of my simple joys in June is being published in the House 21 magazine. I was featured in it last year, but absolutely thrilled to be published again. I love what House 21 stand for and am forever grateful for their support, especially as I've made the move to becoming a full time blogger.

6. All hands on deck childcare.
We don't have an awful lot of help when it comes to childcare. Our nearest family is 70 miles away from us (hence the house move). This month however we've been able to stay with family and have extra hands when it comes to childcare. Something I've been so grateful for as I reach the latter end of my pregnancy. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and I can't wait to be reunited with my village.
7. Beach days.
Something I'm really looking forward to when we move house is the prospect of being 10 minutes away from the beach. I've grown up by the beach and this month while we were viewing houses we got to go back. Luckily it was a lovely sunny day when we visited & I was able to dip my toes in the usually cold North Sea.

What have been your simple joys in June? What's brought you a bit of positivity this month, let me know in the comments.

Hi Claire,
Thank you for sharing your June Joys with us. Sometimes, it can make you happy just by reading about the things that make other people happy!
There is something magical about beaches, isn't there? They seem to have this strange ability to make you feel better just by the act of walking along them and looking at the sea ebbing back and forth. You are very lucky to now live so close - make the most of it!
My June Joy is a strange one - I re-pointed our patio! The 'professional' that we paid to do it around 2 years ago made such a *!$% job of it I figured that I couldn't do any worse. In fact, for somebody that is fairly averse to any DIY, I think I've done a pretty good job - much to my surprise! 🙂
This was such a lovely post to read. It's so nice to remember the simple joys in life. I'd love a few more beach days this summer!
