[AD] The Giza pyramids might just be one of the greatest tourist attractions in the world. Being one of the seven wonders of the ancient world there's no doubt you'll have it on your Cairo itinerary already. This post aims to busy you on your other days in Egypt's capital. Today we'll be looking at ten things to do in Cairo besides the pyramids.

Things to do in Cairo
Landious travel is a fantastic Egyptian tourist centre. As well as offering trips all over Egypt, they have a number of excursions in Cairo available. Let's take a look at the things you should be seeing in the Egyptian capital.
1. Cairo tower
Cairo tower is a freestanding tower which reaches 187m high. Built by architect Naoum Shebib the tower takes inspiration from ancient Egyptian architecture. It features open lattice work design which is said to mirror pharaonic lotus flowers. The tower is an incredible sight to be seen.
An observation deck tops the tower as well the infamous revolving restaurant. It's advised to go up to the towers observation deck during late morning or late afternoon for panoramic views across Cairo. Enjoying an evening meal in the revolving restaurant would make for a ridiculously special night.
2. Mosque of Muhammad Ali
The mosque of Muhammed Ali is one of the first landmarks you'll see as you approach Cairo. Breathtaking from both the inside and the outside, visiting is an absolute must when staying in the country's capital city. Situated in the citadel, the mosque of Muhammad Ali neighbours a number of other mosques, churches and synagogues. Spend a day taking in the architecture and interiors of these stunning religious buildings.
3. The cave church
The Cave Church, or Saint Simon monastery as it's also known is located in the heart of the Mokattam mountains in southeastern Cairo. It's only accessible through the garbage city, meaning it's a little less touristy. The drive itself is one of the more fascinating experiences in the city.

4. Khan Al-Khalili street market
Located in the heart of Cairo, the Khan Al-Khalili street markets is a must for holidaymakers. It's filled with unique and exotic items from spices to perfumes to jewellery and souvenirs. Great for picking up bargains the street markets are fantastic for wandering around and getting lost in.
5. The Egyptian museum
The museum of Egyptian antiques also known as the Egyptian museum is a must when staying in the capital. The museum houses one of the largest collections of pharaonic antiques. With free tickets available to visit, the Egyptian museum should absolutely be on your Cairo itinerary.
6. Coptic Cairo
Coptic Cairo is part of the old city which encompasses the Babylon fortress. You'll also find the coptic museum, the hanging church as well as many other churches and historical sites here. This is an incredible part of Egyptian history. If you're even remotely into ancient history Coptic Cairo should be on your list.
7. River Nile cruise
The river nile is just as life giving and essential these days as it was in ancient times. It's one of the best ways to see the city. With various different tours available from a number of different ports, it's an excursion not to be missed.

8. Al-Azhar park
If you're looking for a couple of hours to wind down, try Al-Azhar park. With a vast area of green space it's the perfect space for exploring, reminiscing and taking in the Egyptian cityscape. The park provides beauty and tranquility right in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Cairo.
9. Cairo opera house
The opera house is the main performing arts centre in Egypt's capital. If you're looking to take in some Egyptian culture, a trip to the opera house is essential. Smart attire is a must for the opera house so it's a great excuse to get dressed up. Booking is essential, so do check out the performance guides at Cairo Opera House.
10. City stars shopping mall
City stars shopping mall is home to over 750 luxurious stores. If you enjoy shopping and find pleasure in retail therapy, city stars shopping mall is one not to be missed. With fashion stores, eateries and masses of entertainment, the shopping mall is a day out in itself.

I'd love to do the Nile cruise and the Egyptian museum. I'd love to see the pyramids of course but it's definitely important to realize that there's much more to see!

Cairo seems like an adventure. There are so many funs things to see and do. I particularly like the River Nile Cruise and The Cave Church. What an interest list of things to do.
