My Experience at RUSH York | Haircut & Blow Dry Review

ADPR. Would you believe me if I told you I hadn’t had my hair cut in four months? Yep… four whole months. Eeek. My hair had reached that awkward stage where it just felt heavy, lifeless and impossible to style, so when I was invited down to RUSH York Hair & Beauty for a complimentary cut and blow dry to celebrate the salon’s grand opening, I couldn’t say yes fast enough.

First Impressions of RUSH York

The moment I stepped inside RUSH Hair & Beauty York, I was instantly impressed. The salon interiors were sleek, modern and, dare I say it, incredibly blogger-friendly. Think glossy black tiles, bright white walls and a really luxurious atmosphere that immediately made me feel relaxed.

You know when you walk into a salon and instantly know you’re going to be treated well? That was exactly the vibe at RUSH York.

Talking Through My Hair Goals

Before we even touched my hair, salon owner Jess Graville sat me down for a proper consultation to chat through my haircare routine (which, honestly, is pretty minimal) and what I wanted from my appointment.

I explained that I hadn’t visited a hairdresser in months and was feeling completely stuck in a rut with my hair. I still wanted to keep the length, but desperately needed to remove some of the weight because my hair is so thick. Weirdly, the strands themselves are actually quite fine, I just happen to have a ridiculous amount of hair, as Jess quickly discovered!

She suggested taking around an inch off the ends and adding some long layers to create movement without losing length, which sounded perfect.

Kerastase Treatment & Head Massage Heaven

Next, I was led through to the hair washing area where I was treated to a luxurious Kerastase hair treatment and one of the most relaxing head massages ever.

Honestly, the head massage is easily one of the best parts of visiting the hairdressers, right?

The whole experience felt incredibly relaxing and gave me a much-needed bit of self-care time.

After my treatment, I headed back over to Jess who started working her magic. She carefully trimmed the ends and added long layers throughout my hair, instantly making it feel lighter, healthier and so much bouncier.

The final touch was a gorgeous curly blow dry which made me feel ridiculously glam walking out of the salon. If only the Yorkshire rain hadn’t appeared five minutes later…

I genuinely had such a lovely experience at RUSH York. Not only did I leave with healthier, fresher hair, but the whole salon experience felt welcoming, professional and relaxing from start to finish.

It was also really interesting chatting with Jess about her background in hairdressing and her journey to managing the York salon. She was so friendly and passionate about what she does, and it’s clear she’s created a really positive atmosphere within the salon.
