AD. With Mother's day just around the corner I thought I'd put together a list of what Mum's actually want for mother's day. There are so many beautiful ways to celebrate Mother's day. You'll have noticed the shops become adorned with teddy bears, fancy cards and fresh flowers. But is this what Mum's actually want for Mother's day? Well, yes. But kind of no at the same time.
As Mum's, we don't actually want 'things' for Mother's day. I mean, we do, but we'd actually prefer something we'd deem much more valuable.

What Mum's actually want for mothers day?
1. A Full Nights Sleep.
What Mum's actually want for Mother's day is a full night's sleep... Without an early morning alarm!
This one is for the Mum's who's children don't sleep through the night. Or the Mum's who's children like to wake them up at what feels like the crack of dawn.
My daughter is much better now with sleep, but the times of starting my day at 5am still feel very real. The days can feel so long, especially if you're solo parenting, it can feel monotonous. I think the very least we deserve is a full nights sleep.
After enjoying that rare, uninterrupted slumber, nothing completes the perfect Mother's Day morning quite like waking up to mother's day flowers on the nightstand—a beautiful reminder that while you've been peacefully dreaming, someone was thinking of how to make your first waking moments as special as you are.
When your family has carefully selected each bloom based on your favourite colours and scents, these customised Mother's Day arrangements become more than just flowers—they're a heartfelt testament to how well your loved ones know and appreciate you.
2. Time Off From Being Mum.
Being a Mum is amazing. Having a child is the most precious thing in the world. But is there times when we'd like to switch off and shake our responsibilities as parents? Of course there is.
Sometimes what Mum's actually want for mothers day is to have some time off.
I'd love just a couple of hours to myself, to do something fully for myself, not involving my daughter or my husband. Will I know what to do with myself? Probably not. But I'd sure like the opportunity to find out.
3. Someone to do the Jobs I Don't Want to do.
There are 101 different jobs which need doing as a Mum. And I'm not just talking about those that come with parenting.
I have a list stuck to the fridge which consists of a load of jobs I don't really want to do, but that need doing. None of the jobs are particularly strenuous, they're just the type of things that are easy to put off. Like cleaning the skirting boards. Or repainting the coving.
What Mum's actually want for Mothers day is for these daft little jobs to be eradicated.

4. An Uninterrupted Cup of Tea.
I love a cup of tea as much as the next person, however these days I'm lucky if I get to finish a full cup. And even if I do they're usually cold towards the end.
What's the reason for this you ask?... My child. My child demands so much of my attention that I quite simply don't have the time for an uninterrupted cup of tea.
I would love a moment of calm where I could enjoy an uninterrupted cup of tea. What I'd love even more so, is an hour to myself in a coffee shop. That would be the dream right now!
5. Complete Silence.
When's the last time you had complete silence? If I think about it, I cant pinpoint when the last time I had it... And that actually makes me feel a bit sad.
My child is amazing, she's the happiest, most charismatic little girl, but my goodness she can talk. She's like a little whirlwind! We have a full day of noise, but even when we've put her to bed, we flop on the sofa in front of the TV. It's our own doing, but we don't get a moments silence & I feel like I really need it right now.
This makes me sure that what Mum's actually want for Mother's day is complete silence. Wouldn't that be bliss!
6. A Night Out With the Girls.
I'm not a massive drinker & I didn't go out all that often pre-covid, however something I'm craving is a night out with the girls. I want to be around my girls. The women that big me up and make me feel good. I miss dancing.
What Mum's actually want for Mother's day is an evening off to let loose and remember themselves pre-motherhood. I struggled a lot when I first became a mother, however the thing I felt most difficult was mourning my pre-baby self.
I'm sure the next night out with the girls will be a wild one!

7. A Full Body Massage.
I've suffered with a bad back for as long as I can remember. I'm a young person trapped in an old person's body, I'm sure of it. Something I'd absolutely love right now is a full body massage.
What I'd really love is a visit to the Lush Leeds Spa. I went to their grand opening back in 2017 & quite frankly haven't been able to get their treatments out of my mind. I'd love to get all oiled up and have somebody crack my back to within an inch of it's life.
Maybe I need to hire a chiropractor?
8. A Clean House.
The term 'stay at home Mum also brings connotations to that of a 'homemaker'. It seems that when we choose to stay at home with our children we're also given greater responsibility of looking after the home. And sometimes that can be really quite dificult.
Looking after a child is a full time job. Cleaning a home can be a full time job. Something's got to give right?
It's the home isn't it? What Mum's actually want for Mother's day is to have a bit of help around the home. Even better, pay an external cleaner to come in and give the house a good blitz.
9. Something for me. Just because?
We become selfless when we become parents. We kind of have to, don't we?
As materialistic as it sounds, sometimes what Mum's actually want for Mother's day is something for themselves. A treat! Something they wouldn't buy for themselves.
I was recently treated to a gold T-Bar necklace from Daisy London... Just because. It's from their collaborative range with Estee Lalonde & I absolutely love it. I'm quite picky when it comes to jewellery, but this piece is 100% me down to a T. Pardon the pun. Jewellery is always a winner, so whether you pick a Daisy London ring or necklace, I'm sure you'll be in your mums good books.

10. A Two Week Holiday in the Maldives.
I mean, a girl can dream right?
This one's just for fun, but what I wouldn't give to spend a fortnight living my best life on the golden sands of the Maldivian islands. Although to be fair, I think we all need this after the year we've just had!
For now though I'll keep putting the lottery on!
What do you think of my choices? Out of the 10 things I've chose, what do you actually want for mothers day this year?

Oh my goodness. Number 8. I dream of this daily. We keep a tidy(ish) house but some jobs are just a b!tch and I don't wanna.
Oh my goodness, right! My kitchens an absolute mess at the moment, but I've just shut the door for now. Haha. Out of sight out of mind.... Secretly hoping my husband will just go in and sort it all out. Haha.
Haha I loved reading this! Especially that last point! A trip to the Maldives?! Yes please! I'm not a mum yet but I think for Mother's Day, I would make my husband and kids leave me alone for the entire day so I could do what I wanted then have a dinner with them in the evening! That would probably be a dream for a lot of mums. Thanks for sharing x

Wouldn't that be amazing! I'd actually love it. Especially after the year we've had. Tbh that sounds like the dream day! Just to have a bit of time to chill and let my brain switch off would be bliss.
Love this and the pure honesty. When we were little, my mum always said she didn't want gifts, she just didn't want to be doing housework or cooking etc all day. She'd not do a roast and we'd have a day of fun with her. Now that we're older she's spoilt rotten, it's so lovely!
Rosie
Aw bless her! Yeah, I think that's lovely. I'd love to just have a bit of time to chill out and let my brain switch off. Completely turn into a couch potato. Haha.
Oh wow any of these would be lovely!!
To be fair, I'd be happy with a bottle of wine 😉
