Badgers Bar is a well established independent eatery that's captured the hearts (and stomachs) of many over the years. Let me tell you a little bit more about this hidden gem. You absolutely need Badgers Bar Guisborough on your list if you're visiting the quaint market town.

Badgers Bar Guisborough review

Atmosphere and ambiance

What I've found with Badgers which is so unlike anywhere else I've eaten is that within the restaurant theres a variety of different vibes. You have the choice of eating outside, downstairs in the cafe or upstairs in the bar. All three areas are very differently but similarly styled and each offers its own atmosphere and ambiance. I've eaten in all three areas, each on a number of occasions and for me it's all about how I'm feeling on the day, or even what the weathers doing that influences where I choose to sit. Summers day, sitting outside is a no brainer. If I'm with the kids I prefer to sit downstairs, however if I'm with my husband or the girls, it's straight upstairs for rustic, fancy bar vibes.

Menu and food

For me I find there's quite an extensive choice of food at Badgers. The only thing I would say however if that if you're vegan or even veggie, there isn't a great deal of choice. If you aren't limited with your diet you can enjoy an array of food such as breakfasts, bagels, quiches, salads and a range of homemade scones and cakes. I've always found the kitchen to be really accommodating too. There are things on the Sunday menu that aren't on the weekly one and we've always managed to bag them when we've been in during the week. Don't take my word as gospel, but it definitely doesn't hurt to ask.

Service

The women working in Badgers Bar are brilliant. They're always friendly, really accommodating and super welcoming. We've only really had one experience where service was slow however this was only because they were short staffed and training up a new member of staff. And even then they were so apologetic and upbeat about the situation. It definitely hasn't and won't put me off from eating there again.

Price and value

Price wise I think Badgers is brilliant. The portion sizes are excellent and I've always come away feeling positively full. Full breakfasts for example come in currently at £10.80 and a smaller portion at £8.80. Whilst this isn't the cheapest breakfast you'll find in Guisborough it's a great quality one with a fantastic portion size.

Location

The location of Badgers Bar is great. Guisborough itself is a fantastic little market town to explore, but this particular setting is stunning. If you're sitting outside you'll have views of Guisborough Priory and St Nicholas Church. If you're lucky you might even get to witness a wedding.

There’s plenty of nearby parking available. You can park on Guisborough high street with a parking disc (available from the library). There’s also numerous car parks all within walking distance to the high street, just be careful you don’t pick a short stay when you want a long stay one.

Guisborough is also pretty accessible by bus. Do make sure to check your timetable before your visit.

Accessibility

Like with a lot of old buildings and market town stores, accessibility into the restaurant isn’t great. I can get the pushchair in easily enough however a wheelchair user would struggle. Once inside the restaurant it’s only relatively small too, meaning if you do have a pram or mobility aid it can be a bit awkward trying to find somewhere to park.

Would I recommend Badgers Bar Guisborough?

Absolutely yes! We’ve always had a wonderful time at Badgers. It’s rustic but welcoming vibes are what really appeals to me. The menu is varied and exciting. It’s definitely not one to be missed! If you’re ever visiting Guisborough, Badgers Bar needs to be on your list!

Would you fancy Badgers Bar Guisborugh? Have you visited before? Where else should I try in Guisborough?

Boo on the lack of vegan and veggie options! That's a big turn-off for me!

I love the rustic vibe of Badgers! As you have provided a link, I couldn't resist having a nosey at their website - the menu sounds incredible, love the idea of a Yorkshire pudding wrap. Also they have a great cocktail menu which is always a win in my book x
