[AD] They say moving house is one of the most stressful lifestyle changes you can go through. It's up there with having a baby and getting married. Because of this it's wise to try and ease stresses as much as possible. So let's dive in and chat about moving house. Let's answer the age old (not quite) question of should you use a local removal company, or save your pennies and do it all yourself.

Should I hire a local removal company?
If you can afford to hire a removal company, the short answer is yes. There are lots of benefits and reasons you should hire a local removal company to help you move house. Here are a few reasons why:
1. Removal companies save you time
Moving house takes time. A LOT of time! I think that's what makes it all the more stressful. From the weeks of packing (but not too much packing) to hiring, loading and unloading a van it can be a really lengthy process. Removal companies do this sort of thing everyday. They have packing and the art of filling a van like you're playing tetris down to a tea! It's likely they'll be able to do the move in one trip too, whereas if you were doing it yourself it may take longer. This can be especially difficult if you're living in a city. Choosing a cheap removal service in London especially would be beneficial. I couldn't think of anything worse than making numerous trips across the traffic ridden city.
2. The kids aren't going to get in the way
Moving house is stressful enough. If you've got to do it whilst looking after young children it can be even more stressful. Finding the time to pack with small humans constantly under your feet can be really difficult. Hiring a removal company alleviates this issue. If a removal company is packing and moving for you, it gives you the opportunity to sit back, relax (if that's even possible with children) and have one less thing to worry about.
3. Sentimental & fragile items will be kept safe
As I said previously, removal companies do this type of thing everyday. They know all the tips and tricks when it comes to nailing the perfect house move. Professional removal companies are skilled with the knowledge of packing and transporting fragile and sentimental items safely. They're also likely offer some form of guarantee incase anything does happen with your items.
4. A local removal company takes the stress away
Finally and most importantly a local removal company will 100% take the stress away from you on moving day. Things can be so up in the air, even up until the last hour before exchanging. This pressure is always going to be there, but it doesn't have to be made worse by doing it all yourself. Giving the responsibility of moving house to a removal professional means your mind will be clear and you might actually even enjoy the moving process.
Things to think about if you don't hire a local removal company
To finish let's take a look at what you need to think about if you'll be doing the house move yourself:
- How expensive will van hire be?
- What time constraints will there be hiring a van?
- What insurance documents do you need to drive the van?
- How many trips will you need to do?
- Who will be helping you load & unload the van?
- How will you fit everything into the van?
- What insurances do you have to accommodate any breakages?
If these are questions you don't want to worry over I'd definitely recommend using a local removal company to do the hard work for you. I often think when you're spending a huge amount of money what difference is a little bit extra going to make. Especially if it's going to take the stress away from you.
Have you moved house recently? Was it stressful? Would you recommend using a removal company?

I have to admit we didn't hire a removal company when we first moved because we had nothing large to bring with us. We just had bits and pieces of stuff, all of which my husband had to move because I couldn't get the allocated time off.
I'm moving in December, and will definitely be hiring a moving company. Moving an entire flat now will be even more difficult x
