I'm not going to lie, this month hasn't been there most joyous of months. Throughout April we were inevitably stricken down with covid. After escaping it for two and a half years the big C finally got us. And it got us good. It wiped us out for over half of the month and it feels like I've spent the other half catching up. You'll probably notice that this post isn't a 7 Simple joys of the month, like the previous months. It's just simple joys. And quite frankly that's because I couldn't think of 7 joyous things. I'm usually a very positive person but I've really struggled this month to note the positives. With that being said there have been some great things to happen this month. Here are my simple joys of April.

Simple joys this month.
Celebrating our friends wedding.
Towards the end of the month we drove down to reading to celebrate two friends getting married.
The day was amazing, the couple were stunning and both girls were as good as gold. It was wonderful and easily my top simple joy of the month. It was lovely to get dressed up to show a united front as a family. We received so many compliments on the girls, it was wonderful. It was also amazing to catch up with everyone there. With the last couple of years goings on, it's been a long time since we've all been in the same room together.
The wedding was the most perfect excuse for a good old knees up.

Freedom.
After having and recovering from covid, those first few days of freedom were like nothing before. It's certainly felt strange at first, immersing ourselves back into the real world. Everything felt busier and louder, but now we're a week or so free we've soon settled back into normal life.
Don't get me started on how good it feels to have childcare again!
Rewatching Vikings.
I've mentioned to my husband for probably the last 6 months or so that I want to rewatch Vikings. We watched it a few years ago as a couple and it's been one of the best series I think I've ever seen. This month I dived back into it and it's been glorious.
I love the storylines for drama and the character development. If you're not seen Vikings before I would heavily recommend.

All Trails.
We're very outdoorsy family. We do lots of outdoor adventures together, and have been all over the UK. Just last week we downloaded All Trails, an app which gives you walking, cycling and even horse riding routes across the country.
Our first trek was a waterfall walk through Goathland on the North Yorkshire Moors. The walk was stunning and we had a great time playing in the waterfall, but it's the app which really shone for us, as it opens so many more possibilities for us.
On the app you're able to download your route. This is particularly useful for if you don't have phone signal, something we definitely didn't have whilst we were trekking in the middle of nowhere. It also tells you when you're going the wrong way, which is obviously very handy. We tend to get lost quite often (but that's all part of the fun, right?). We found the directions to be super concise too. It made our walking route glaringly obvious.
I actually don't think the app could have made our walks any easier.

What have been your simple joys this month? Do you have All Trails?

We had covid at the beginning of the year. One kid was sick for two days, the other didn't even get it, and I was sick for 14 days and still aren't fully back months later.
This month have been stupidly busy, but I did spend a weekend with my sisters, and we visited a lovely restaurant that served the most amazing food.
Looks like you had a lovely month, except catching covid. I am glad you are feeling better. That family picture is lovely at the wedding. Thank you for sharing. I hope you have a good month in May.

I’m so sorry to hear you caught Covid and felt awful with it. It’s gutting that it happened over the half term for you all. I’m pleased you’ve managed to have a few joys throughout April despite being poorly. I hope May is a much better month for you all! Xo

I’m sorry that covid wiped you all out so much. As you know we all had it this month too and only this past week do I feel like I’m getting back to normal in regards to my exercise and stamina. It really takes it out of you! Lovely to see you still found some joys. I hope May is better and obviously covid free for you!
Loved reading this! The simple joys are so important x
Feel you on the covid thing - I think it had been in the house 3.5 weeks by the time the last one of us tested negative!
I enjoyed this read. Although is wasn't all good, sometimes those not so good times help us appreciate those good times more. Love the title too, thought it was full of gratitude.
I'm so jealous you have been to a wedding! I was literally saying this a couple of weeks ago, it's been 4 years since I went to one and I need a good knees up at one haha. Your pictures are beautiful x
I hope you are feeling ok now after Covid, it's horrible when it wipes you out completely! I hope you had a lovely time at your friend's wedding, one of my friends is getting married in May and I'm looking forward to that! x
