Does anyone else think July has gone by within the blink of an eye? It's absolutely flown by for me, which is scary as we reach the end of our second pregnancy. There's not long left now at all. As a glass half full kind of gal I took lots of simple joys from June and this month has been no different. Here are my 7 simple joys in July.

7 Simple joys in July.

1. Pool days.

I can't not include the ridiculous heatwave we've had as one of my simple joys in July. Dealing with the heat in my third trimester hasn't been easy, but was has made it easier is by having a dip in the pool. We bought it for our daughter and although she's absolutely loved it, I think I'm the one who's enjoyed it more. The pool has got to be one of my simple joys in July.

2. My friend had her baby.

One of my oldest friends had a baby this month! After being friends for the last fifteen years it's been amazing seeing her blossom during her pregnancy journey and transform into the amazing mum she's going to be.

Seeing the way my daughter reacted to meeting hers fills me with so much joy & only excites me for our own impending arrival.

3. I've had a great month work wise.

I'm only seven months into my freelance journey, however being 8 months pregnant I'm at the stage where I'm contemplating slowing down. I'm still unsure as to when to start a maternity leave or how long to take off. With that being said July has been a brilliant month work wise for me. It's been a real confidence boost that my decision to quit a stable job and do this blogging thing full time was the right one. I'm unsure what the next couple of months will hold for me work wise, but I feel like I'm going out with a bang which is amazing!

4. Saturday mornings to myself.

Being a parent is a full time job. There's no holidays, no sick leave and no manager to call if you're running a little late. It's hard going! Luckily for me I've been able to have a few Saturday mornings to myself this month whilst my husband has taken our daughter out to our local trampoline park. As he works throughout the week it's lovely for them having dedicated time together, but it's equally as lovely for me to catch a break. The few hours to myself on a Saturday morning have been absolute bliss & something I'm so so grateful for.

5. Family time.

Towards the end of the month we travelled back up North to celebrate my cousins 23rd birthday. The whole family was there and after a year and a half of not seeing everybody together I couldn't not include the celebrations as one of my joys in July.

It's the simple things in life which really matter and it was lovely to kick back and relax with family. The majority of them have only seen our daughter as a baby so it was amazing seeing her interact with everybody... And wrap everyone else around her little finger.

6. I've started packing.

The house move is occupying my mind quite heavily at the moment. That and the impending arrival of baby no.2 or course. We shouldn't be moving for at least another month I'd have thought, but it pays to be prepared and I'm hoping my eagerness will pay off in the long run.

I've decluttered mine and my daughters things and have started packing the non-essentials. The house is starting to feel a little bare right now, but it's all for good reason. I can't wait to raise our family in the new home.

7. Uniting mamas.

At the beginning fo the month I collaborated with seven other mums in putting together a post for advice they'd give themselves in preparation for motherhood. For me this was such a lovely collaboration because it's a topic that's really close to my heart. Having input from seven other women was wonderfully empowering & it's filled me with confidence going from one wild child to two.

I loved reading this post. It's lovely to just sit back and smell the roses sometimes, there are so many simple pleasures to be had. I love my Saturday mornings in bed, I don't even really lie in but I switch the TV on and let my weekend begind. It's lovely!

    Hi Claire,

I'm glad that freelancing is working well for you. In terms of maternity leave, and as you are your own boss, are you able to just 'see how it goes' and return when you feel like it? Or is there a lot of advanced planning that necessitates you picking a certain date?

Good luck with the house-move 🙂

Pool days are a must! We have local paddling pools that are open during the summer but sadly it’s been to cold to use them! Not fair haha
