How to best prepare for your Sharm El Sheikh holiday

1. Be admin organised

It's crucial that things such as passports, visa's and other travel documents are well accounted for during your trip. At the moment there are no current covid vaccination requirements for those traveling from the UK to Egypt. This may change however so please do stay up to date with travel rules and regulations for your trip. The only stand out requirement at the moment is that British passports need to be valid for 6 months from the date you arrive. Also if you have a British passport, you normally need a visa to gain entry to Egypt.

2. Pack appropriate clothing

Weather wise, there really is no bad time to travel to Egypt. It's one of those sunny all year round countries. A stark contrast to the weather here in the UK. Because of this light, floaty and breathable clothing should be packed. Comfort is key, especially when travelling to warmer climates.

When travelling to Egypt it's important to pack appropriate clothing as a mark of respect. On the whole Egypt is quite a conservative country and people generally don't show too much skin. Whilst women don't have to cover their hair it's custom to wear respectful clothing. Cleavage, shoulders, midriff and knees should be covered at all times. Tourists won't be called out for not abiding by these rules, however I think it's important to respect other cultures when travelling to foreign countries.

3. Create an itinerary

There's so many things to see and do in Egypt, it's not just about the pyramids. It's important to create an itinerary for your trip, even if it's relatively loose. This ensures you're making the very. most of your time there.

Before your Sharm El Sheikh holiday you should check the Egyptian calendar for any religious holidays. There are two holidays you should be prepared for in Egypt. During Ramadan for example most tourist spots and restaurants close early. If you're travelling within that time it's worth scheduling early dinners to accommodate. The second holiday is Eid Al Adha, a four day celebration commemorating the sacrifice of Abraham. During this time cities are expected to be much busier so it's worth looking out for, especially if you're travelling with young children.
