AD. I've been married almost three years now and although it was the best day, there are a few things I'd do differently on my wedding day.
We've both discussed what we'd do differently on our wedding day on a number of occasions, so this won't be news to my husband. It's a conversation not of frustration, but one rather on hindsight.... Which is a wonderful thing, right?
The wedding planning was stress free, we didn't say the wrong names and absolutely everything went without a hitch, but there are still some things I'd do differently...

5 Things I'd do differently on my wedding day.
1. Realise I didn't need a four tiered cake.
Cake tiers are the kind of tiers I'm here for, not the ones we have these days. But a four tiered cake I have come to realise is a tad excessive.... Especially when we only had 50 guests!
Truth be told neither Dan or I had any of the wedding cake on our big day. Once that bad boy was cut we seemed to go our separate ways with it... Only to be reunited at home a couple of days later; And there was a lot of it! We didn't have enough Tupperware tubs to keep it fresh & unfortunately a big proportion of it got thrown away sadly.
Looking back now I'd have still had a similar looking wedding cake, I'd have just scaled down and had two tiers maybe... And a cheeseboard! Everyone loves a cheeseboard, right?
2. Shop for prom dresses instead of bridesmaid dresses.
If I could give you any piece of advice, it's to shop around. You know the saying that as soon as you stick 'wedding' on the front of something it doubles the price of it, right? Well that's exactly the same for the words 'bridesmaid' and 'groom', only I didn't realise this at the time.
I'd decided from the get go that I wanted to be the person to purchase my bridesmaid dresses. I'm not really too sure on the reason why, I just wanted to treat them both to a beautiful frock. The dresses the ladies chose were stunning and I've got no qualms about whether I did the right thing or not, I just wish I'd have looked a little more outside of the box. I should maybe have searched for 'evening dress' or used https://www.promdressfinder.co.uk/ to find a more affordable alternative.

3. Hire a videographer
If Dan & I were on 'Mr & Mrs' and we were asked what's one thing we'd do differently on our wedding day, we'd win because we'd both say it'd be hiring a videographer. We both mentioned it in the run up to our wedding however for some reason plans never really fell into place.
Neither of us looked further into it and although I wouldn't say it was a regret, it's definitely something I'd do differently on my wedding day.
We have some stunning photos to remember the day & we're both beyond pleased with our photographer, although images sometimes can't quite replicate the memory like a video can. I understand that hiring a videographer would have been pretty costly. Looking back now it's something I wouldn't think twice about paying for.
4. The ability to have all of our guests photos in one place.
We hired an amazing photographer for our wedding, who managed to capture some absolutely beautiful photographs of us and our guests. We sifted through over 300 images which we managed to whittle down for one of our fabulous wedding photo books. Something I'd do differently on my wedding day however is to have everyone's wedding photos pooled into one system. That way we could go back and look at everyones photos, not just the professional ones.
I want to see the drunk photos at the end of the night, or the selfies of our guests looking absolutely banging! I also want to see photos of my father in law turning into a dancing queen! We're missing out on so many kodak moments.
5. Drop the baby bombshell.
I was ten weeks pregnant on our wedding day & although it was lovely being our little secret, I really wished we had dropped the baby bombshell. Can you imagine the shock on everyones faces as we spilled our secret during the speeches! My Grandma's reactions would have been priceless.
We decided to keep the news to ourselves as we weren't sure if the pregnancy was going to be viable. It was our first pregnancy and to be honest neither of really knew what we were doing. I wished we'd have known that we could have booked a private reassurance scan through Miracle Inside to make sure everything was okay. That way we could have spilled the beans on our big day.
I luckily had a relatively easy pregnancy so theoretically we'd have gotten away with dropping the baby bombshell. This is definitely something I'd do differently on my wedding day, purely for the reactions. Hindsight is a wonderful thing right?

Maybe I can do all these things when Dan & I renew our vows on our 10th Wedding anniversary.... Not that he knows anything about that yet.
Would you do anything differently about your Wedding day?

This was so interesting to read! I was hoping to get married this year but with that not happening I'm now completely changing my mind on what I want for our big day! Ruth ruthwrites.blog
Yeah, I can imagine if we'd been in the same position, we'd be thinking the exact same. When we first got engaged we were debating whether just doing it with us and our parents. It's a tricky one isn't it!
