Sykeside campsite is nestled close to brotherswater in the heart of the lake district in north west England. It's stunning views and top class amenities make it the perfect campsite for those new to camping or those looking for a few home comforts on their camping trip.
We enjoyed an overnight stay at the brotherswater campsite back in July. It was my three years olds first camping experience and the first one for my husband and I in a very long time. We had an amazing, stress free camping experience. Sykeside is the perfect campsite for new campers.

Accommodation at Sykeside campsite
There are a number of different accommodation types available at Sykeside. We opted for a standard grass pitch with our 4 man tent however the options include:
- Tent pitches
- Camping pods
- Caravan pitches
- Bunkhouse accommodation
- The Brotherswater Inn pub
- Tipi's
How much does it cost to stay at Sykeside campsite?
Depending on both the time of year and the type of accommodation you require, the prices vary at Sykeside. You can expect to pay anywhere between £19 for a standard pitch and £60 for an overnight stay in the Brotherswater Inn.
For reference, we paid £29.50 for one tent, two adults and one child in peak season.
Sykeside do charge for extras such as awnings, charges for dogs and extra tents, however they're all really quite reasonably priced.
Facilities at Sykeside
Sykeside campsite was incredible for its facilities, offering everything you could possibly need from your home from home.
- Shower & toilet facilities
- Power sockets in the bathroom blocks
- Laundry room with both washing machines and tumble driers
- Dishwashing area with hot running water
- An incredibly well stocked shop
- Pub serving fabulous countryside bar meals and drinks
Having toilets and hot running water was a big one for us. Especially with a new to camping three year old in tow. The amenities make Sykeside camping park feel much more like a home from home... Only we were sleeping under the stars!
The only thing I'd say which could be seen as a negative (although not for me) is the lack of signal at the brotherswater campsite. Mobile phone reception is very patchy. My husband uses Vodafone and I, EE. It was only myself that had a slight bit of reception during our stay. It's obviously not the worst negative, in fact I quite enjoyed it. But I understand for some it may be an issue.

That looks picturesque. I must make the Lake District a priority for a visit.
There's some great bike trails around there for anyone with older kids too, that like getting muddy!
