Date night's when you become parents can be far and few between. We're no longer our significant others priority & vice versa (and rightly so). Unfortunately date nights seem to fall by the wayside however I do feel like they're something we need to make time for. It's exciting getting to spend one on one time together again, remembering all those little reasons you fell in love with one another. I know thinking up different activities and concept for your time alone together can be difficult. With that in mind, here are 10 date night ideas for parents to inspire you.

1. Dine in meal deals.
Recently my Husband & I celebrated our ten year anniversary, honouring our night with a dine in meal deal. For our dine in meal deal my Husband ended up buying the exact same meal we had on our wedding day... Unbeknown to him obviously!
As much as we both enjoy cooking, it was lovely having a night off & having the lovely Marks & Spencers doing the hard work for us. We're big fans of a dine in meal deal as they feel like a luxury but they come with such minimal effort... And they quite often come with a bottle of bubbles!
2. Bring the spa home.
My second great date night ideas for parents is to bring the spa home; Because let's face it, when was the last time you we'e able to fully indulge in some self care?
We love a face mask night!... And not the face masks we are used to during these times. We were gifted a big bumper box of 7th Heaven Face Masks for Christmas and we're still making our way through them now. We love the lucky dip element which comes to the selection & have really enjoyed using what we've tried so far.
As well as face masks, a good soak in the tub is always appreciated. If you're feeling extra generous you could surprise your significant other with a special bath full of bubbles. Think scented candles, the most Pinterest worth bath caddy & a glass of champers!
3. Make a scrapbook.
It's the norm to spend any time away from your children, looking at pictures of your children, but why not spend that time remembering who you are as a couple. There's nothing more romantic than reminiscing on your life together. Taking time out to remember who you both were before you became parents is so so important & something I feel very few of us do.
If you're crafty you could go all out however if you're not so much, you could spend your evening putting a photo book together online. Having something physical to commemorate your relationship would be incredible. Just think, it'll be amazing to show your children when they're older how cool their parents used to be!

4. Games night.
Pre-children & pre-us a gamer dating site is something my Husband may have considered. Post-children, gaming isn't something he doesn't make much time for anymore even though he enjoys it. I'm much more old school when it comes to gaming. I'm a scrabble geek & much prefer playing 90's console games over anything modern... Spyro, Rayman and Crash Bandicoot are much more my vibe!
We have a PS5, Nintendo Switch & the oh so retro Game Cube, so have a lot to choose from when it comes to gaming. Gamers dates are a great way to kick back, forget your responsibilities and have a laugh with your loved one... Just try and not get too competitive!... Or in my case, jealous when my other half wins everything!
5. A home bar crawl.
A boozy date night idea for parents can be a risky one, especially if your child enjoys seeing the sun rise. Bar crawls will never be the same when you become parents... But they are still possible!
If lockdown has taught us anything it's to appreciate where we live that little bit more. Why not take solace in the nooks of your home & set up a bar in each room. The change in scenery from having a drink in different rooms can spark so many more conversations. Don't knock it till you've tried it!
6. Make artwork for your home.
Pinterest in the home of interior inspiration. Why not get creative and take inspiration from the app to create a piece of artwork you can proudly show in your home.
We love mixed media & filling our home with textures, it's a sure fire way of making a visual impact with interior design. I've been inspired recently by drywall art pieces & even though they look super impressive, they look super easy & fun to create too.

7. Write love letters to each other.
Rekindle your romance in the form of love letters. It's old school, but it's certainly a great date night idea for parents as it can really make you appreciate one another outside of parenthood.
List three reasons why you love your other half & surprise them with your wonderful words. You could even keep them in a jar to relook at during another date night. It's definitely going to make you both feel all fuzzy inside!
8. Movie night.
Movie nights are always a winner in our house! With numerous subscription services, we have such a wide array of movies to choose from. We love cosying up, putting our phones in another room and grabbing all of the snacks possible to enjoy our favourite movies with.
My Husband is a complete Star Wars geek which has undoubtedly rubbed off on me over the last couple of years. It's one of our favourite series to watch & we now regularly sit down to catch up with our favourite Skywalker's. I have such a soft spot for Anakin!
9. Pizza cook off.
Have you made pizza's before? We hadn't before this year. It turns out they're actually really easy & a great activity to bond over.
You could mix things up by making each other their pizza or by creating different pieces of art using pizza toppings. A bit of friendly competition always goes down well in our house.
10. Learn each others love languages.
Do you know what your love language is? Do you know what your significant others is? Discover your love languages to help strengthen and improve your relationship.
By discovering what your love language is you can rekindle anything lost through parenthood. It's no secret that children can dramatically affect your relationship. Unfortunately it's something that isn't spoken about very often, but should 100% be normalised. By figuring out exactly what the other person needs it can really help strengthen the bond you already have.

What are your favourite date night ideas? Do you make enough time for them?

I love M&S dine in for two - even though it's ready meals, it's such a delicious treat and no cooking! I like to try different stuff like games nights with my man to keep things interesting. He loves how crap I am and we laugh our heads off!
Rosie
So good aren't they! And they definitely feel like a treat too! Haha I'm the same, I think I give Dan heart palpitations when he watches me playing games. Haha. X
I love all of these ideas! I think game nights can be such a great way to spend time together and also love the idea of getting to know each other's love language. ALso anything involving good food is always a great way to spend quality time together x

Yeah haha! We're very much like that too. X
I've never done that love language quiz so I'm going to do it in a minute! These are fab ideas 🙂 I'm not a parent but I love these date ideas. Games and pizza nights are right up my street!
Haha. It's so interesting! You'll have to let me know what you get. X
My partner and I have been doing game nights and the pandemic started. We both got the Nintendo Switch and play when we're together and online. Certainly helped avoid some of the boredom
That's good! I think I used to think of it as quite a kiddy thing to do, but I've really enjoyed games nights. Haha. X
Hi Claire. Some great ideas there. I'm impressed that you've managed to get hold of a PS5 - that must have been quite a challenge! I remember getting so frustrated with Crash on the earlier games consoles - one second you are flying along without a care in the world, the next you are plummeting to your doom while shouting at the TV that that was not what you told Crash to do and that you had been robbed! 🙂
My husband and I always do game nights and it is honestly the best!
Love it! I've really enjoyed them too. X
Dine in meals are our go-to! Always buzzing when we see M&S has something new. Hopefully we'll get out for real soon! xx
They're ace aren't they! M&S are definitely my faves. X
My partner and I have game nights and movie nights, we used to play together over Xbox live and now we play together coop. It’s always important to create time for each other during busy schedules and life
Oh absolutely! That's so cool! X
