Luxury hotels in Yorkshire: Our overnight stay at Aldwark Manor.

For my birthday this year I was lucky enough to spend a night in one of Yorkshire's most luxury hotels. I wasn't expecting it, and there were many a moment where I'd said 'this is too much' but honestly, our weekend stay at Aldwark Manor was incredible, from start to finish. I'm all for a treat yo'self moment every once in a while and this was just that for us. So let's dive in, let me tell you more about our overnight stay in one of the most luxury hotels in Yorkshire.

Aldwark Manor.

Aldwark Manor is a luxury golf and spa hotel situated in the very heart of serene Yorkshire countryside. Between York and Ripon in the small village of Alne, it's the perfect spot to indulge in a bit of luxury and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Aldwark Manor Estate has oozed luxury since it was first established in 1978. Picturesque grounds, stunning interiors and fine dining means theres grandeur at every turn. This independent, indulgent luxury hotel in Yorkshire provides the most unforgettable, extraordinary experience.

Aldwark Manor House.

Right from the get go you know your overnight stay at Aldwark Manor is going to be an indulgent one. You enter the estate through a walled entrance, through a long driveway which passes a fountained lake on the right and lush green gardens on the left. It was at this point I turned to my husband in the car and said my first 'this is too much'. The house stands proud amongst its beautiful grounds instantly welcoming you with its big double doors.

I must admit at this point I felt a little out of my depth. You can take the girl out of Middlesbrough, but you can't take the Middlesbrough out of the girl, right? I rocked up in Nike Air Max, hair in a mum bun and a tired, dishevelled look on my face. I felt a little bit like we didn't belong initially. It's stupid really, but I can't deny I was feeling a little taken back.

Rooms at Aldwark Manor.

We'd booked a standard room at Aldwark Manor which was at the front of the building overlooking the fountain in the entrance. The space was roomy, really well designed and super comfortable.

We had a small, but still very boujee ensuite bathroom which was kitted out with modern ceramics and a walk in shower. It actually gave us inspiration for our own bathroom which is really exciting. When it comes to it, I'd love to create a luxury hotel inspired bathroom in our own home.

The king size bed was dressed with the most incredible linen which provided the most wonderful nights sleep! After what feels like an eternity of broken nights sleep with my youngest, this bed was welcomed with open arms.

Little touches of luxury were also added into our accommodation. There was fresh filtered water, little glass bottles of milk and minis from Bayliss & Harding. There was even a specific flannel embroidered with the words makeup which I thought was a lovely touch.

Like with a lot of luxury hotels in Yorkshire other accommodation is also available. There are executive rooms, suites and even a cottage if you're looking for something even more boujee.

The Aldwark Manor spa.

On site is Reflections spa. A space which just oozes a calm and restorative vibe.

There's a gym, which admittedly we didn't use, although we did talk about it so that kind of counts about being healthy right?. The spa itself consists of a large heated pool, jacuzzi a sauna and a relaxation area. There are a number of treatment rooms upstairs offering different beauty services. Luckily for me my husband treated us both to back, neck and shoulder massages. I've not had a massage for a very long time so it was very much welcomed. My half an hour of complete relaxation was utter bliss!

Dining at Alwark Manor.

Adjacent to the spa, Aldwark Manor boasts the Ultimate fine dining experience - Elements. A restaurant which emphasises natural and sustainable food.

Central to the restaurant is the bar which circles a large scale faux tree. Beyond this is a window lined wall with tabled seating overlooking the lawns of Aldwark Manor Estate. The setting was really something!... And the food was even better!

I indulged in a spicy chorizo scotch egg for starters, which was far as scotch eggs go was just incredible! I'd actually go as far as saying it was the best thing I'd eaten all weekend. It was sublime! Mains for me was a flat iron steak served with an Asian slaw and spiced vegetables. And I finished with a treacle tart, which was a little wild for me (I'm a religious sticky toffee pudding kind of gal). It was really enjoyable, but I'd consumed far too much food at this point, I couldn't quite finish it.

With our stay we were given a £40 meal allowance each, which if I'm honest was quite difficult to spend. The prices were really reasonable, incredible in fact thinking about the quality of food. I wouldn't usually go for all three courses, however because the allowance was there it'd be rude not to go for it.

Our dining experience at Aldwark Manor was just that, an experience. And one I'd definitely do again.

Breakfast was served in the same restaurant the next morning and although it was much more casual in comparison to the previous nights eateries, it still oozed luxury. I opted for a full English breakfast whilst my husband chose eggs benedict. Again the food was incredible!

Luxury hotels in Yorkshire: Would I recommend Aldwark Manor?

Yes! I absolutely would go back to Aldwark Manor Estate, although admittedly it would have to be for a pretty special occasion.

I'm usually very frugal, especially when it comes to treating myself. Our stay wasn't the most affordable and I know the money could have been put to better use (energy prices, I'm side eyeing you) BUT, I do think a little treat is allowed every once in a while. Especially if it takes you away from the chaos of everyday life. Lord knows I needed that full nights sleep!
