Setting goals is something you should do to progress and develop in our life and career. Having goals will help to focus on moving forward with your aspirations. Motivation is what is needed to make things happen, but it doesn’t always stick around and it can be difficult to stay motivated all the time. Here are 6 tips to help you stay motivated with achieving your goals.

6 Ways to stay motivated.
1. Set the right goals
You want to make sure that the goals you have set yourself are ones you actually want to attain. You do not want to make sure you are not setting goals based on what you think you ‘should’ do.
Make sure you’re going after something that you want and that makes you happy. That is what makes the difference.
2. Break down your goals
Setting goals and achieving them is hard. There are no simple routes or shortcuts, but it definitely makes the experience so rewarding.
It can be overwhelming to work on your goals, so you can break them down. Breaking down your goals into tasks can help you manage achieving your goals and will make them more attainable.
When you look at a long-term goal, it can be hard to know where to start, so creating a list of tasks that will help you to make productive steps to your future.
3. Be consistent
Long-term goals do not get achieved overnight; they take time, hard work and dedication. To make positive progress, you have to consistently work on them.
Consistency is massively important because it allows you to focus on what you want. When you focus on a goal and working toward it every day allows you to utilise the power of intention. Your focus yields exponential growth and results.
4. Hold yourself accountable
You could have the best ideas, have huge talent and ambition, but unless you actually take steps to put those concepts to the test, you will never make progress or achieve what you want. This is why it is vital to find ways to hold yourself accountable.
Accountability keeps you striving towards your goals. It accelerates your performance by helping you make consistent progress.
Here are ways that you can hold yourself accountable:
- Be honest with yourself
- Stick to your schedule/time frame
- Create micro-goals
- Have an accountability partner
- Overcome self-sabotage
- Celebrate your wins
- Identify your why
- Review your progress regularly
5. Celebrate your small successes
Taking time to celebrate each success you have, whether they are big or small is important because it helps you to build momentum and keep focused.
With each win, it builds your confidence and reinforces your: ‘I can do this mindset.’ Celebrating doesn’t have to involve a grand gesture. Wins can be celebrated in small but meaningful ways that help you acknowledge that moment.
Writing down in a journal, or even just on your phone about your daily or weekly successes, enables you to update the list, so you can see how far you’ve come. You could even share this list with your family and friends to give them a chance to support and encourage you.
6. Review your progress
When you are working on goals and projects, it is an effective practice to review your progress. Evaluating your progress gives you the opportunity to see what it is working for you and what isn’t working that you should alter. If you are continuing with a method that doesn’t work, it will leave you unmotivated and frustrated with the lack of success.
To review your goals, you should ask yourself:
- Is this goal still important or relevant?
- What is working to achieve my goal?
- What isn’t working?
- Are there any changes you need to make it more relevant to your life?
- Are there any changes or steps I can make to achieve my goals any easier?
These are some targeted ways to help you stay motivated with achieving your goals.
I’d love to hear how you stay motivated with you goals. How do you celebrate your little wins?
