I'm a very happily married woman. I've been with my husband for 10 years and the thought of ever becoming single again scares me. We're the best team and I absolutely rely on that... Which got me thinking, what would I actually do if I was single again? My world would be turned upside down!
I don't want to dwell on the idea of becoming single again however if it ever were to happen to me, I'd like to think I'd be able to learn a lot about myself from it.
I've had two serious boyfriends in my time. The first, looking back now wasn't such a serious relationship, the second became my husband. This means therefore the last time I was single I was 17 years old. Seventeen year old me & thirty year old me are of course two different people. If I was single again I'd like to think the present version of myself is a lot more self assured of herself than the previous version. I've learnt a lot about myself in my 30 years.

4 Things I'd do if I was single again.
1. Say 'yes' more.
There are lots of opportunities out there in the world and something I'd do if I was single again is to say yes to more of them.
As a married woman, there's of course no reason why I couldn't say yes to the opportunities now but there's sure as hell no reason why I couldn't if I was single again. Life's too short to not too!.. And I'd sure as hell throw myself into every opportunity possible.
2. Date more.
I haven't spent much adult time being single. You could say I've not spent any time at all being single as an adult. I've not dated and I've never really 'played the field' (if that's still what people say these days).
I've never put myself out there in terms of meeting new people or experimenting with different people. I'm not saying I want more notches on my bedpost, but the opportunity to meet more people and speak to others from different walks of life to myself would be something I'd find so beneficial.
What I need is a dating site, but for people who purely want adult conversation. Surely there's a gap in the market for something like that! Like a very, very, very PG version of Tinder.
3. Escape everyday life.
If I was single again the first thing I'd do is escape my everyday life. I'd imagine heartbreak would be best spent in the middle of nowhere. The first place that springs to mind for forgetting about everyday life would be the Scottish highlands. The scenery is like nothing I've seen before and I love the idea of being able to travel, park up and wake up in a new place every morning.
Along with the breathtaking countryside there are numerous city's you can visit along the way too. If I believed the phrase 'the best way to get over someone, id to get under somebody else' I could get myself on the Fife Dating scene & sign up to a Fife Dating Site. I might even find myself a tour guide for the city.... Two birds, one stone and all that!
4. Be more selfish.
I'm a very thoughtful person. It actually annoys my husband that I put him before myself. If I was single again, I'd definitely become more selfish.... At least for a short while anyway!
I'd take time out by taking more breaks and saying no to things I deem unnecessary. I'd implement 'me time' and 'me days' where I'd take myself out on dates. A 'me day' would consist of a sleep in, breakfast in a trendy coffee independent coffee shop, followed by a day at a spa and an evening in a fancy hotel.
Being selfish sounds bliss doesn't it!
How would you rebuild your life if you were to become single again? Do you enjoy being single? Let me know in the comments below.

I'd probably travel - just set out and see the world and where it takes me with no attachments, or work on a cruise ship! x
I could definitely see you doing that! X
One good thing about being single is that you have nobody to answer to and that you can just do whatever! x

That's so true! Haha. X
I think I would definitely do more travelling, but I'm lucky I married someone who is interesting in visiting new places!
That's good! There's so much to see out there. X
I love this, it's controversial but I am so here for it. I've been with my fiance for nine years and I'm very happy but this post has got me thinking. Saying yes more would definitely be up on my list too

I'm in the same boat. It's definitely interesting to think about though isn't it. X
You don't have to wait until your single to escape your everyday life, because you don't have to escape it alone. If that's something you really want to do, have a conversation with your partner and see if they'd be interested in doing it too
We do. We've actually just got back from a little staycation in the Yorkshire Dales, it was bliss just to relax and unwind. X
I’ve come out of a 10 year marriage, at first it was the single scariest thing I’ve dealt with, however I quickly found things I enjoyed doing I couldn’t do when i wasn’t on my own, I enjoyed nights in with movies by myself, eating whenever I want and not having to worry about cleaning. The peace of being on your own is lovely.
I am single, and have been for a while, and although I do not do all of these, the travelling thing is my favourite thing about being single. Being able to just pick up and go where I want is also 100% my reason for not really wanted kids either.
