[AD] Summer holidays are a time to relax as a family, create lasting memories and find enjoyable activities to keep everyone entertained. While outdoor adventures are often the go-to option, sometimes mother nature has different plans, with rain showers threatening to put a damper on your plans. In these situations, family cinema trips can be the perfect solution to stop a rainy day from turning into a complete wash out into a delightful experience for everyone.

The magic of the cinema

Going to the cinema as a family can be a lovely thing to do, giving you the chance to immerse yourselves in captivating stories, cheer on beloved characters, and share moments of laughter and tears together. Watching a movie on the big screen creates a sense of wonder and excitement, especially for little ones, that cannot be replicated at home. The collective experience of seeing a film in a theatre enhances the emotional connection among family members, strengthening the bonds between parents and children.

A perfect rainy day activity

Rainy days during the summer holidays can often be a blessing in disguise, even if the kids don’t think so! They offer an opportunity for everyone to slow down, relax, and indulge in cozy indoor activities. A family cinema trip ticks all the boxes for an enjoyable rainy day outing. It provides a sheltered environment where you can escape the downpour, snuggle up with your loved ones, and embark on an exciting cinematic adventure. The anticipation of a movie outing can uplift spirits and turn a gloomy day into a delightful one.

Budget challenges

While family cinema trips are a wonderful way to spend time together, they can often put a strain on the budget, especially when multiple people are involved. Movie tickets, popcorn, drinks, travel there and back and parking can all quickly add up meaning you end up spending a small fortune! Because of this, you end up not indulging in this type of activity as frequently as you would like. However, with a little bit of planning and creativity, there are ways to save money and still enjoy the magic of the big screen.

Tips for an affordable cinema trip

So how can you enjoy a cinema trip but not spend a fortune in the process? Well, looking around for good deals on cinema tickets is one way, but you don’t have to spend ages searching the internet, no one wants to be doing that!

Thankfully, the experience day company WonderDays has the perfect solution: low-cost cinema tickets you can use for any film, any time, any day at over 400 locations across the country. All you have to do is purchase your vouchers and follow the quick and easy redemption process. Once you’ve done that, you’ll have voucher codes to use at the cinema of your choice and buy cinema tickets at around half the price they would normally be. All the big cinema names are included such as Cineworld, Odeon, VUE, Movie House, REEL and more.

They’re the perfect thing to buy in advance and keep ready for when the weather isn’t cooperating with your plans!

You can also save some pennies by taking your own treats to enjoy during the film but if you really can’t do without the popcorn (the smell is just too tempting sometimes!), sharing a large popcorn between a few of you can mean you don’t have to sacrifice the full cinema experience.

Family cinema trips are a magical way to spend quality time with your loved ones, especially on rainy days during the summer holidays. While the cost of multiple tickets can add up, there are ways to make these outings more affordable without compromising on the experience. So, gather your family, grab your popcorn, and get ready for an unforgettable cinema adventure this summer!

I haven't been to the cinema in years, but I really want to see The Little Mermaid, and also the Barbie movie! If you are with 3, on their reward app you can go to any Cineworld cinema for £3 so I might do that.
