How to get your bedroom Christmas ready without breaking the bank

[AD] With Christmas fast approaching you've probably started thinking about how you can decorate your home for the festive season. Usually the main focus is on the living areas, whereas today I wanted to take you through adding festivities to your bedroom space. Although not a necessity, festive decor shouldn't be limited to just downstairs, nor should it end when your bedroom begins. Here's a few ways you can get your bedroom Christmas ready without spending a small fortune... Because we're in 2022 after all!

How to get your bedroom Christmas ready

1. Festive bedding

The easiest and in my opinion one of the most fun ways of making your bedroom Christmas ready is with festive bedding. There are so many different options available nowadays, from affordable supermarket and high street options to those that are a little more luxe. There are a great number of different bedding options available this time of year no matter what your budget.

Think about what colours compliment the tones already in your bedroom and go from there.

2. Dress your bed

After you've popped on your Christmas duvet and pillow cases you can dress your bed with festive cushions and throws. I love dressing the bed to make it appear more luxurious and comfortable. I'm very much in the 'more is more' camp when it comes to dressing your bed. I know cushions get taken off as soon as you get into bed to sleep, but there's just something so special and so welcoming about a fully dressed bed.

Divan beds are amazing for storing extra dressy bits for your bed. We keep all of our added extras in our divan bed base making it a much easier switch around for changing season.

3. Dress your headboard

You'd dress the mantle around your fireplace so why not dress your headboard. This could be done super affordably with tinsel (I know people have a love hate relationship with tinsel), lighting or festive garlands. Obviously each option has it's own price point so it's definitely worth weighing up what you already have first.

With your headboard often being a feature of the bedroom space, I'd even recommend decorating those on your guest beds too. If you can, why not go all out? Add extra festivities to your home.

4. Add festive scents

An affordable way to get your bedroom Christmas ready is by adding festive scents. Scents and smells can have a huge impact on the way a space is perceived. I bet there's places you've been, whether it's a holiday or even a local retail store where if you smell a certain scent it takes you straight back to that moment. This is exactly the same.

Christmas candles, reed diffusers even wardrobe scents can be picked up really easily and affordably. Personally my favourite Christmas scents are anything with cinnamon in (I'm a sucker for a sweet scent) or real tree scents - Perfect if you haven't got the space for a real tree in your bedroom.

5. Twinkling lights

Lighting can have a massive visual impact on your interior space. When it comes to this time of year the only lighting you need to think about adding is twinkling fairy lights. There's something about the addition of fairy lights which just oozes festive joy.

You could hang lighting as if it were bunting around the tops of your bedroom walls. They can be draped around the headboard or cupboards. There are so many opportunities for adding festive lighting to your bedroom. It's a really easy one which can make a huge difference.

6. Try a mini tree

Mini trees are a really easy way of getting your bedroom Christmas ready. You can usually pick up miniature Christmas trees during your grocery shop or at markets. You don't need to spend a fortune on foliage to Christmasify your interior space.

We usually buy a Bloom & Wild mini Christmas tree. They're around 12cm tall and come with all the relevant decorations. For an affordable price you're easily able to add festivities to your space. Plus you get to plant the tree afterwards as a really lovely momentous.

7. Dress your shelves with decorations

You've already got a box full of Christmas decorations in the loft right? Instead of limiting them to the downstairs and living areas why not integrate them into your bedroom space.

Dress your bedroom for Christmas by popping decorations on your shelves or dresser. Having festivities on display in all rooms will continue the festive spirit and bring Christmas joy to your day as soon as you wake up.

8. Add a stocking to the end of your bed

Name something more festive than a stocking at the end of your bed. It's been a tradition for me ever since I was a child and something I'll be passing down to my own children. The presents in there are always from Santa FYI.

I love the fuzzy feeling you get from a Christmas stocking so for me it's a sure fire way to get your bedroom Christmas ready. There are loads available on the market these days. You don't need to spend a fortune if you don't want to. If it's for your guest bedroom perhaps you could pick something up from the supermarket. If it's for your children's bedroom a personalised stocking could be the way to go.
