Modern offices are much different now from how they were in the 1990s or even the 2000s. Things are a lot stricter, and that’s very much a good thing. Today’s office spaces are more enjoyable to be in, which is not only an important aspect for employers to consider from a moral perspective but also in terms of productivity

If you’re currently looking to set up a new office or update your existing ones, you’ve likely got a lot of exciting ideas for how you’ll go about it. You’ve probably also realised that putting everything into practice is more complicated than you originally thought.

To change or implement one thing, you also need to think about several others, and managing all of this stuff on your own can be difficult.

So you can begin the process feeling confident, here are three tips for creating a pleasant place to work that are sure to have you off to a good start.

How to Make Your Office a More Pleasant Place to Work

1. Prioritise Comfort

Comfort can mean many different things when it comes to office design, but the two most important are ergonomics and providing proper recreational areas.

With the former, all of your office furniture should be designed with comfort and health in mind. This means getting desks and chairs that have been built to support good posture during long periods of sitting. One of the best things you can offer is a standing desk, as this enables your staff to alternate between periods of seated and standing work.

Where the break rooms are concerned, make these spaces as inviting as possible. Provide a coffee machine, some nice seating, and perhaps a table tennis table or game console – things that make the area feel homely

2. Embrace Natural Elements

Human beings have evolved to feel happiest around nature, so it makes sense that you should do your best to embrace natural elements in your office spaces.

Greenery has been proven to improve people’s mental health, and it does a great deal to offset the harder, more professional feel that you’ll likely have in place throughout the building. Managed office plants in particular provide a low-maintenance way to improve the appearance and general vibe of the place as a whole, and with so much variety to choose from, you should easily be able to find something that fits the aesthetic of your business.

3. Use Colour and Light to Create a Pleasant Mood

Colour and light can each be used in some creative ways to enhance the mood of your office, but you shouldn’t prioritise one over the other.

They work in tandem. You’ll want to sort the lighting out first, as this has the biggest visual impact. Position your office in the areas that have the greatest capacity for natural light, and then choose your colours accordingly. Pastel colours work very nicely if you’re struggling to choose; they’re not too bold, not too drab.

To Conclude

You should now have what you need to make a start on designing or re-designing your offices. Take your time and don’t bite off more than you can chew initially, and you’ll do great. Good luck!
