Lifestyle | I've Said Yes... Now What Do We Do.

Forget Christmas, in our house this really is the most wonderful time of the year!... We're wedding planning!

It's inevitable, once you get engaged, you're gonna get hit with a million and one questions. For example, when are you're going to get married, where you're going to get married, how many bridesmaids are you going to have, what's your theme going to be. Gahh! You name it.. I've been asked it... And truth be told, it's really fricken overwhelming! Especially for someone like me who hadn't necessarily given getting married a second thought.

I'm not one of those girls who dreams about getting married, my parents aren't married, and to me it's not the be all and end all. However when Dan presented me with a breathtaking diamond ring & said those four little words, 'will you marry me?' I couldn't contain my emotions. Through shock, tears and laughter I said yes! And here we are today, I've said yes... Now what the heck do we do.

We've only just gotten into the swing of things, starting our wedding planning & here's a few tips we've picked up along the way.

Seek advice from people who've been there.
We have a couple of married friends, so of course, it seemed only natural to gravitate towards them and seek the advice from people who'd been there, done that & bought the veil. It was interesting discovering how the brides prioritised, especially at the beginning when you don't really have a clue where to start. What was even more interesting however was finding out what they would have done differently! I've really enjoyed taking time out and discovering more about my friends special days, and have found their advice really has been priceless!

If you look at my Pinterest, you'll probably think I'm a complete bridezilla, but I'm not, I swear! What I am however, is a massively creative person. In fact we both are! And being able to visualise our perfect day through the powers of the internet has been amazing.

Invest in a Wedding Planning notebook.
Luckily my sister bought Dan & I a Wedding planning book when we got engaged & it's been our holy grail. The notebook sections every aspect of your wedding into manageable chunks, completely taking the stress away from the bride and groom to be. The book we have notes down literally everything... Even the things that you hadn't thought of!

Creating a guest list.
Possibly one of the most difficult tasks we've had to do! Basically, noting down who makes the cut and who doesn't. It's cut throat, but it's one of those jobs that needs to be done early on as it paves the way for the rest of the wedding... In particular when considering your Wedding budget (don't even get me started on that) and venue.

What's important to you.
You can look on Pinterest for as long as you like and discover the most amazing weddings, but at the end of the day if it's not you, then don't force it. This one should be an easy one, but discuss what makes you as a couple and how you can incorporate that into your wedding... And remember, it's your wedding so you can do whatever the hell you like!

We're actually going to a Wedding fayre at the weekend so I'm sure there'll be more Wedding based posts coming, so watch this space & I hope you enjoy my journey to becoming Mrs Chircop!

Any other hints or tips, by all means throw them my way!

Beauty | My Makeup Realisation.

You'd think being a beauty blogger, that I'm a massive lover of makeup... Well actually, maybe not so much. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy makeup & if you saw my stash, you'd think I was a crazy lady, but I don't need to wear it, to feel like me.

I was a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to makeup. I didn't actually start wearing makeup till I was about 16... About the same time when I discovered hair straighteners... Halle-flipping-lujah! Subsequently sixteen year old me had a complete overnight transformation & i began my makeup journey like a bull in a china shop. Think fake tan, a hella load of bronzer and fake eyelashes upon fake eyelashes. Yeah! That was me!... Please tell me we've all been there? Please?

Ten years later (Gahh!) my attitude towards makeup is very different.

I still wear makeup, but I no longer set my alarm half an hour earlier in order to cover my face in a tonne of products. This lass just 'aint got time for that any more! I enjoy wearing makeup, but I've come to the realisation that it doesn't define me. I've learnt to love my skin and accept all of it's flaws, that's what makes me who I am, not the latest YSL lipstick... *Cough* I wish I owned a YSL lipstick!

I'm not afraid to show you my imperfections & I believe you shouldn't be afraid to show me yours... We're only human after all.

Has your attitude towards makeup changed since you were a teen?

Something I'm not too clued up on when it comes to beauty, is beauty tools, so when LAB2 got in touch asking if I'd like to try a few of their brushes, I felt obliged to say yes. Life is for learning... And having fabulous makeup brushes!

It was only up until a few years ago that I actually started using beauty tools within my regime. For years (and years and years) I'd use my hands to rub foundation into my skin or use my fingers to dab concealer under my eyes; Which is totally fine & I still do now if I'm in a rush, but thankfully I've been able to explore using beauty tools more in recent years.

Generally I prefer the finish of using beauty brushes so when these three brushes from LAB2 landed on my doorstep I was really excited to use them. The package contained the 'Just Face It Kabuki Brush', the 'Beyond A Shadow Of A Doubt Shadow Brush' and the 'Read My Lips, Lip Brush'.

What first struck me about these brushes was their names. I love a good pun (don't we all) so we were off to a winning start with these bad boys before even trying them. There's nothing more confusing to me than numbering makeup brushes *cough Mac cough* Just tell me what job the brush is supposed to do, I don't want to have to remember random numbers.... Is anyone else with me?

The Just Face It Kabuki Brush is the first of my collection, god knows why it's taken me so long to get my hands on one, because I bloody love it. It's so easy to use because of the shorter handle and I find I have a lot more control over this, than I do my usual powder brush. The bristles are relatively soft with a slight dome to the shape meaning it picks up the perfect amount of product, which then applies perfectly.
I don't wear a great deal of eye shadow (lazy girl problems) however having the Beyond A Shadow Of A Doubt Shadow Brush in my possession has made me much more experimental when it comes to makeup. It's quite flat & fluffy so I've found this particularly useful when it comes to applying product in the crease & then blending. The bristles are a lot more densely packed than other shadow brushes in my collection so I actually prefer this newbie as it provides a much more precise look.
Bizarely I actualy needed a lip brush last week & had to use a concealer brush.. Not the best idea Claire, so this Read My Lips Lip Brush is the one I was most excited to try! The brush is super compact & precise and leaves an amazing finish on the lips. I've even been testing out ombre lips with this brush & it works a treat!

A select number of LAB2 brushes can be picked up in Superdrug stores, however Amazon have the full range, so if you're on the lookout for new makeup brushes I'd definitely try these out.

What are your favourite Makeup brushes to use?

Lots of love. Claire. X

Hallelujah! I've found it! That's right... I Claire McPartland, have found the comfiest jumpsuit in existence thanks to Sammydress!

I bagged myself this pastel pink jumpuit from Sammydress a couple of weeks ago, which if you haven't heard of it before, is an online store very similar to Shein. They're an overseas company who sell a shed load of products, from clothing items, to beauty products, even home ware pieces at superbly discounted products. Have a peak on there, you won't look back! There's got to be something for everyone on there.

I picked up the jumpsuit expecting it to be made from a stiffer, more tailored material, however when it arrived I realised it's a super stretchy, super comfortable polyester... And I love it! This is the sort of jumpsuit which I can just throw on, quite simply with a pair of white pumps, and if I do have to leave the house (lazy days are never really, completely lazy days are they?) then I feel put together enough to do so.
I've been digging rucksacks too recently, hence why I've picked up this LaRedoute tan beauty. I love how hands free rucksacks are, and they're very quickly becoming my bag of choice! If you have any rucksack recommendations, I'd love for you to throw them my way.

Have you heard of Sammydress before? I've seen a lot of high street companies bringing out similar jumpsuits to this, so I'm more than likely going to pick up some more. How would you style this jumpsuit?

Lots of love! Claire. X

Beauty | Current Autumn Beauty Favourites.

So I said it! Now we're in September, it's officially Autumn, and I for one absolutely love it! There's a couple of things I love about Autumn, mainly the copious amounts of Hot Chocolate it's now socially acceptable to drink, getting cosy in front of the fire with a blanket, Autumn fashion & of course Autumn beauty.

God knows we never really get a Summer in the UK do we, so I've been filtering a few of these products into my beauty routine for a little while now. There will of course be many more changes to come within my beauty routine however today I wanted to chat you through five of my current faves.

In recent weeks, I've been reintroducing the Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar blush palette back into my life, purely because it's the most versatile blush palette I own. Even though my skin tone is quite fair, I find myself being able to use all the shades across this palette as it contains both matte contour shades and shimmery highlights too. I particularly love using the white highlight under my brow bone & on the inner corners of my eyes.
On my lips I've been using the Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub, which is an absolute Autumn/Winter staple of mine. My lips get horribly dry as soon as the weather gets colder & this alongside the Body Shop Lip Scuff are my holy grail products. The only reason I've favoured the Lush version is beacuse the scent is so darn delicious.. If you're into sickly sweet scents like me, then this lip scrub is going to be right up your street.
Of course we all love a dark lip as soon as the seasons change, it's almost like an unwritten rule. A shade I've been reaching for is Revlons Rich Raison Frost which is a perfect transitional red berry toned lipstick. The formula of Revlon lipsticks are one of my favourites & it's always the first beauty counter I go to when I'm on the lookout for a new shade, and for me this one is perfect!
I've been upping my skincare routine recently too & one product I've recently discovered, and have fallen hook like and sinker for is the Rodial Dargon Blood Hyaluronic Tonic. A quick spritz of this on my fave on both a morning and a night has massively made a difference to my skin & one I'm not going to be letting up now it's getting colder.
Something I'm sure we all like to pack on to our bodies when the weather turns colder is a thick heavy moisturiser and my favourite by far is the Soap & Glory Righteous Butter. It's been a firm favourite of mine for such a long time now, I really haven't met a heavy duty moisturiser I've prefered! I still need to see what all the fuss is about with the Diamond Righteous Butter, but if it's predecessor is anything to go by I bet it's amazing,

Are you ready for Autumn? What are your favourite Autumn beauty products?

Lifestyle | Date Night.*

Even though we live together, our busy work schedules sometimes makes it feel like Dan & I never see each other. It sucks being an adult sometimes, so when Get A Date Night got in touch asking if we'd like to receive our very own personalised date night kit we jumped at the chance.

Get A Date Night is a monthly subscription box that brings the fanciness of a traditional date night to the comfort of your own home... Basically you and your loved one can spend a bit of quality time together, enjoying each others company with the benefit of not having to get out of your pajamas... Pretty much perfect right?

This months Get A Date Night was a wine tasting night, which Dan and I were really excited to sink our teeth into. We like wine, okay, we love wine, but the idea of wine tasting is something we'd never really thought about... We normally just glug it! We opened the subscription box to be greeted by a handful of personalised prints, one of which discussed 5 wine tasting tips, other wise known as the 5 S's... See, smell, swirl, smell (again) and then slurp. Using these five pointers Dan & I were then able to jot down our thoughts on the wines provided. It turns out we have totally different tastes when it comes to wine, my favourite was Dans' least favourite and vice versa. We've known that we have different wine preferences but it was really interesting to figure out why.

Next up there was a wine quiz, asking ten questions, which if I'm totally honest, neither of us knew any of the answers to. The questions were challenging and ones that made us think, but thankfully Get A Date Night provided us with multiple choice answers making them a teeny bit easier. Even with that little bit of help Dan & I still did pretty pants. He scored 3/10 and I scored 3.5/10 so won the surprise prize (yes you heard me) by the tiniest whisker!

As a little memento of our Date Night, we were also given a grow your own wine kit which I'm sure we'll be planting some time soon. Unfortunately we haven't got the best track record when it comes to keeping plants alive, so lets see how long they'll last. Oops!

Get A Date Night are launching mid September, so mega mega soon & are currently offering 50% off their first box, so if you're looking for something a little outside the box to do with your partner, I'd definitely recommend to get yourself in the queue for one of these!

Is Get A Date Night something you'd be interested in? What's been your most unusual date night?
