Lifestyle | 5 Things I Want To Achieve In 2016 Revisited.

I'm sure you're tired of hearing this by now, but bloody hell, hasn't 2016 flown by. As we reach the end of December, 2016 really feels like one of those 'blink and you'll miss it' type years.

At the beginning of the year I put together a list of a few things I wanted to achieve in 2016... Looking back there's things I've flopped at & things I've really succeeded in; With you today I'll be delving into my goals (I dislike the word resolutions) as well as putting a list of things I'd like to achieve in 2017.

5 Things I Wanted To Achieve In 2016.

1. Save Money - With buying the house last year, topping my bank balance back up was imperative! I mentioned in my previous post that I'd set up a direct debit to take a small amount from my current to my savings account each week. My mindset was 'look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves' which is very much true - I've managed to save a fair bit of money over the last year, but instead of going into my savings account, it's gone into Dan & I's Wedding account. Eeep! So I've definitely succeeded at saving, only now I have a reason and something to save for!

2. Go On Holiday - I've definitely succeeded at this one! After having zero holidays last year, I definitely felt like I was in need of some time away. This year we jetted off to Berlin, spend a week in The Algarve and finished the year off with a cosy cottage in the peak district, Dan, myself and the pooch. It was bliss!

3. Do More Interior Design - I began 2016 doing freelance Interior Design work however unfortunately this was rather short lived. I knew at the time of writing my original post that my heart wasn't truly in it any more, but I wanted to continue as I'd put so much time and effort into qualifying becoming an Interior Designer. Don't get me wrong, I love Interiors & adore decorating but  my passion for it is no longer there. It seems everyone's an interior designer at the moment, whether you're qualified or not - It makes me feel rather underwhelmed with my qualification & what I've achieved.

4. Create More Lifestyle Based Posts - Waaah! Okay, well this one definitely hasn't happened! I started off really well, but things quickly dried up. I struggled to think of topics and found it especially difficult creating imagery. I'm not a lifestyle blogger! It's just not me & I certainly am not about to start forcing content.

5. Do More Stuff - The most general point of all! Ha! I've definitely used my time better this year, going out walking, playing squash. I'd still like to 'do more stuff' but compared to the previous year, I feel like I've definitely achieved point number five.

5 Things I Want To Achieve In 2017.

1. Pay off half of our Wedding - We all know Weddings aren't the cheapest things in the world! In fact they're pretty effing expensive! We're on a roll with saving now, so carrying this on is something I'd love to do, and I'd definitely feel like it were an achievement paying at least half of our big day off by the end of 2017.

2. Enjoy more me time - My brain is constantly buzzing. There's always something going on up there, whether it's important or not, I'm always thinking about something. I seriously need to learn to relax, I should probably start reading more, it's not as if I don't have the time! Instead of scrolling, I should be filling my head more productively with inspiration.

3. Take more photographs - Being a blogger, you'd think I'd be pretty snap happy, but truth be told, I'm actually a really lazy photographer. I'd love to document more of my days across my social medias as something memorable to look back on. Aiming to post at least every day on Instagram is something I'd love to do, but is it achievable? Watch this space.

4. Get Garden Ready - We have pretty much everything we need to reorganise our back garden, we just need to get our butts in gear and do it. We'd originally planned to do it last Summer, but somehow that didn't quite happen. Here's to Summer barbecues in 2017!

5. Cook more adventurously - I love cooking, I absolutely adore it in fact! However I'm getting slightly bored of the same meals I'm cooking, week in, week out. I need some serious food inspiration from some kick ass cook books.!

How have you guys been getting on with your 2016 goals? What are you planning for 2017?

Beauty | New Cid Cosmetics I-Illuminise.

I’m hugely into highlighters at the moment, mainly because I’m still digging the summer time glow, I can’t not put it on my face. I’ve tried liquid, powders and cream illuminisers, however something I haven’t tried is a highlight like the I-Illuminise from New Cid Cosmetics.

I’ve tried so many New Cid Cosmetics products over the years and have fallen in love with everything I’ve used, so I was mega excited to get my hands on and test the I-Illuminise.  I was instantly attracted to this product because of its’ application process. The I-Illuminise has a pump on the bottom which you press, releases the product into the brush, and then from here you can apply it onto the tops of the cheekbones or wherever you want illuminising.
The product applies really creamily and a little of this liquid highlight goes a very long way. Because it’s a liquid formula, the product does take a little while to blend into the skin, however once it’s on, it’s very much on, which is great. The I-Illuminise brings a very dewy finish to the skin so I tend to pair it with a lighter weight foundation as I find this gives the best effect. It works pretty well with a heavier foundation, but I personally prefer the effect of a more dewy natural glow.

Have you tried anything from NewCid Cosmetics before? It’s such an underrated brand for me! What are your favourite highlighting products?

Thank you for keeping up to date with my Blogmas series.

OOTD | The Investment Camel Coat.

There are certain pieces in a gals wardrobe that are seen as investment pieces. Whether the investment is £60 or ten times that price, these items of clothing come around season after season & can be paired with pretty much anything; and for me, that’s this long line camel coat.

I picked up this long line camel coat last Winter as I’d fallen in love with the trend as it rolled around for yet another season. The camel shade is perfect for throwing over so many different outfits and can be styled in either a dressed up or dressed down way. Its’ oversized fit is particularly great for this time of year, as even though it doesn’t have buttons, I can easily get wrapped up and kept warm within it... Think of it like a posh dressing gown!
I’m dressing the camel coat up today with a pretty slim line outfit underneath. I’ve spoken about it before on the blog, but I love wearing a slim fit, figure hugging outfit with an overized chunkier jacket over the top. It’s such an easy look, which I believe looks so much more put together than it actually is.

Underneath I’m wearing a scalloped edge mint green vest from New Look along with possibly my most favourite pair of jeans. Not only are they stretchy, meaning I can have those extra pigs in blankets, but they’re super flattering, comfortable and look ace with a pair of chunky heels. I don’t wear heels all that often, however if I do, it’s a pair of chunky ones like these; they’re much more comfortable and way easier to walk in, than a pair of stilettos... And if you know anything about me, it’s that I’m all for comfort!

What’s your investment piece in your wardrobe? How would you style this long line camel coat?

Coat - Missguided.
Top - New Look.
Jeans - Primark.
Heels - Kurt Geiger.
Bag - Primark.

Beauty | Paul Mitchell Saclp Care Shampoo & Conditioner.

You might be asking why I would need an anti-thinning Shampoo & Conditioner?... Well  I actually don’t (or at least I don’t think I do) however my hair had drank in every last piece of goodness this impeccable duo has to offer, and personally I think my tresses have never looked better.

I received the Paul Mitchell duo a month or so ago, when I was out at a Press dinner with the Salon Success ladies. They’re the nicest ladies, who host the most luxurious events, so I was ecstatic to find they’d picked this duo out especially for me.
The science behind the products is their Regeniplex Botanical Blend, a mix of five active ingredients which helps block shrinking hair follicles, strengthens the hair shaft and helps alter the hairs growth pattern. It’s proven so popular that 85% of people reported increased hair volume and strength, a fact which really appealed to me as I apply heat to my hair every couple of days at least. Volume and strength is definitely something my tresses were searching for!
The tea tree scented duo are extremely lightweight, something I’ve found really refreshing, especially with higher end products. What I usually find is that higher end products are often really dense & leave my relatively thin hair quite weighed down and greasy. Thankfully the Paul Mitchell Scalp Care set doesn’t do that. The duo has strengthened my hair quite considerably in the month or so that I’ve been using them. No longer do I have handfuls upon handfuls of hair falling out every time I go in the shower, which has made me incredibly happy. I’d even go as far as saying my hair feels thicker, whether it’s my subconscious telling me that or not, I’m not too sure. What I am sure about though, is that I’ve loved using these products! They’ve left my hair looking so strong and healthy; I really don’t want the products to run out!

Have you tried any of the Paul Mitchell shampoos & conditioners before? I’d love to try more of their products so send your recommendations my way.

Thank you.

Beauty | Lush Sex Bomb.

Not only is December the most wonderful time of the year, but it’s also the most perfect time to indulge in some Winter pampering & what better way to start than with a Lush bath bomb!.. It’s not the most festive, but quite possibly the most hyped – It’s Sex Bomb!

I’ve been shopping in Lush for years now, it’s one of my go to shops when I’m looking for a little indulgence, however something I haven’t previously tried is Sex Bomb! Who even am I?
Sex Bomb's definitely  of the prettiest bath bombs I’ve seen, its mix of pink and purple looks incredible displayed in my bathroom and it looks even more amazing when popped in the bath tub. The rather enormous bath bomb, which could easily be split into two baths, immediately explodes with pink foam releasing the paper rose on top.
Sex Bomb has got to be the strongest smelling bath bomb I’ve used. I’d had the product for a few days before using it and I could smell it as soon as I walked through the door, it’s incredible. The scent is highly floral however it does have a perfume smell to it too, making it super feminine, sensual and inviting.
The bath bomb is bursting full of beautiful goodness; Jasmine, Ylang Ylang Oil and Clary Sage Oil make for an incredibly calming and soothing bath. I really don’t know why it’s taken me so long to try Sex Bomb, because it’s definitely become one of my favourites!

What are your favourite Lush bath bombs to use?

It’s no secret that I’ve fallen hook line & sinker in love with Loreal recently! They’re totally blowing me away at the moment, in particular with their base products.

I’m a huge fan of the Loreal Infallible 24HR Matte Foundation so thought it was only right to opt for the True Match Powder as a finishing product. I initially chose it as a finishing powder, however after trying it a couple of times & loving the effect, I’ve since worn it on its’ own as a foundation (which is primarily what it’s supposed to be used for) and I’ve really enjoyed it. The coverage obviously isn’t as heavy as it is paired with something else, but it still gives a lovely more natural finish.

I have quite natural to dry skin, so using a powder can sometimes dry my skin out even further; however thankfully this product has done nothing of the sort! I’ve used it individually and on top or a primer and moisturiser and have always loved the effect. The finely milled powder blends seamlessly into the skin giving a flawless finish, which lasts for such a long time – it really is an amazing all rounder! I picked up the shade Golden Beige which is absolutely perfect for me. It’s one of their paler shades; however the tone has really nice warmth to it, which is perfect for this time of year. I’m all for having a bronzey glow, even at the coldest of times!
Unfortunately I haven’t used the application sponge which comes with the product as generally I much prefer using a kabuki brush when it comes to powder. I can’t really comment too much on the sponge, in fact, I’m quite interested to find out how many of you guys have? I’m terrible for not using the beauty tools that come with powders or pallets.

Have you tried the Loreal True Match Powder before? What are your base products of choice? I’d love some inspiration.

What better way to spend a Winters evening than with a bit of a pamper. The easiest way to feel pampered is with a face mask and for me I like to try new products & vary my face masks which is why I’m a big fan of 7th Heaven.

7thHeaven have a slight pick’n’mix vibe to me, their individual masks start from £1, so it’s really easy to pick a few up at a time, pop them in your bathroom drawers & pick one out at random. 7th Heaven have so many scents & formulas available, there’s definitely something for everyone & enough products to keep you going for a very long time.

The product I was most excited to try was the 7th Heaven Dead Sea Sheet Mask, as I’ve never actually tried a sheet mask before. Of course it didn’t totally fit my face (pip head over here) but by gum was it easier to apply. I loved the fuss free, zero mess element the sheet mask had, I literally took it out the packet, slapped it on my face and away we went! The Dead Sea Sheet Mask was refreshingly cold, in fact it got really freezing towards the end, but I think this really helped cleanse my skin. The mask contains dead sea salt, red algae & seaweed, which revived my tired looking skin & left it feeling refreshed and rehydrated.
The more traditional style face mask I have is the 7th Heaven Argan Oil Mud Mask. We all know argan oil is the best thing since sliced bread, and in face mask form, is no exception. The product applies like emulsion, which was a little strange at first, and I still don’t know if it’s a good or a bad thing. Just strange!  It dries really quickly though which is great, as you can feel the tightening effects almost instantly.  Spookily, the mask dried a creamy white, leaving me looking like Uncle Fester, so that gave me a couple of laughs – I sent various snapchat selfies to let everyone else into my Addams family secret! After leaving the product on for 15 minutes, it removes like an absolute dream leaving my skin feeling the most hydrated it’s felt in a long time. I’d definitely repurchase this little beauty!
As well as face masks, 7th Heaven also supply hair masks. I bagged myself the Coconut Protein Rescue Mask, which from the get go, I knew was going to work wonders. Anything coconutty always goes down an absolute treat with me & this totally lived up to expectations. You get SO much product within the sachet, which is an absolute bonus seen as though my hairs growing like I don’t know what right now. Not only is it getting longer, but it’s also getting thicker too, so the huge amount of product was very much appreciated. I left the beautifully scented hair mask on for just short of an hour & after thoroughly rinsing was left with super shiny, super manageable, healthy hair. There’s nothing more I could have wanted from this product!

Have you tried any of the 7th Heaven masks before? I’m definitely going to purchase some more and make my own little pick’n’mix drawer in my bathroom.

Beauty | Winter Lip Care.

I’ve spoken (more like whinged) about the effect Winter weather has on my skin on numerous occasion, you’re probably sick of me complaining, but today I’m going to be explaining how I try combat these damaging effects, concentrating on my lips!

Generally my lips feel the cold first, and truth be told, this year has got to be one of the worst! I felt the cold sooner and much harsher compared to previous years. Without being too gross, it feels like my lips had been replaced with sandpaper, so as I’m sure you can imagine, it didn’t make me feel too great about myself. Talking, or even smiling was difficult, which is why I went mega hands on when it came to my Winter lip care regime!

One of my favourite products to use on my lips is a scrub. The difference they make is absolutely outstanding and both scrubs I’m going to talk through today are holy grail products of mine! I usually start with the Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub as it’s quite coarse and removes the vast majority of dead skin with its sugary sweet mix. It buffs and polishes the lips perfectly, leaving them feeling silky smooth and as a perfect base for any future lip products. Another favourite of mine is The Body Shop Lip Scuff which has been a constant in my life for at least a decade. It’s contains super nourishing oils, but also has peanut segments in which gently exfoliate the lips. This scrub is much gentler than the Lush offering, and is much handier for on the go, because of its’ bullet style packaging – Trust me, 9 times out of 10 I’ll have one in my handbag, I love them that much!

To add moisture back into my lips, I fully believe that The Body Shop is the way to go. I’ve got hundreds (okay that’s an exaggeration) of these little pots, whether it’s the Born Lippys or the regular tinned lip balms, you name it, I’ve tried it. Two of my favourites at the moment aren’t particularly festive, in fact they’re not festive at all, but what they are, is bloody delicious! I’ve been loving the Strawberry & Satsuma Shimmer Born Lippys because they’re easy to pop in your bag & apply on the go. They smell (and taste) pretty flipping amazing too! What’s not to love.

My lips have definitely gotten better since combating the cold with these products, they’re a little less like sandpaper now thankfully!

What’s your go to skincare product for Winter?

Thank you so much for reading. I’m doing #Blogmas this year, so hopefully I’ll see you back tomorrow!

Beauty | The Importance Of Double Cleansing.

All hail the double cleanse! Skincare is something I’ve gotten into quite heavily since blogging, I’m a firm believer in less is more however something I won’t compromise is double cleansing.

It took me a while to get on board with double cleansing. I’d been pretty lazy when it came to skincare, and makeup for that matter, but It really shocked me to see how much makeup and dirt is still left on the skin after a single cleanse. The face goes through quite a lot during the day so it’s really beneficial to look after it.

To remove the main bulk of makeup I like to begin my cleansing routine with a product that’s oil based, as it’s these oils that actually draw the makeup out of the skin. A simplistic yet amazingly effective product to do this is Coconut Oil. At the moment I’m using the Neals Yard Remedies organic coconut oil, however a product like this can just as easily be picked up while doing the weekly grocery shop. Massaging the coconut oil into the skin & leaving it to sit for a couple of minutes before rinsing removes the vast majority of the days makeup and leaves the skin feeling hydrated and silky smooth. I love using this on a morning as the scent is really refreshing & makes me feel ready for what they day has to offer.
A pricier but albeit more luxurious option is the Emma Hardie Moringa CleansingBalm, which is rich in Grape Seed & Sweet Almond oils so it not only cleanses the skin, but also leaves the face feeling plump, hydrated and mega refreshed. The Moringa Cleansing Balm comes complete with a microfiber cleansing cloth, a super fluffy cloth which seems to magnetise all of the days makeup & grime off of the face.

After going in with an oil based cleanser, I then like to use a gentle face wash to remove any excess oil. Either that or if I’m feeling lazy, I’ll swipe a cotton pad doused in Micellar Water over my face, both products have a similar effect. A new Micellar Water I’ve been using is the Soap & Glory Drama Clean, a cucumber scented product which admittedly did take me a little getting used to, but I’ve now embraced the scent and find this product perfect to use on a morning. If I have any excess makeup up on my face, I’ll then go in with The Body Shops CamomileGentle Eye Makeup Remover* to get rid of any last final bits & to leave my skin feeling soft & subtle.

After double cleansing, whether it’s on a morning or an evening, it’s always really important to put moisture back into the skin, so going in with a moisturiser is essential. At the moment I’m loving using the Soap & Glory Righteous Butter because it’s so thick and hydrating – It’s absolutely ideal for my dry skin this time of year.

Do you double cleanse? If so what are your favourite products to use?

Beauty | Three Festive Scents From The Body Shop.

As soon as festivities begin there’s always two brands I’m super excited for & look forward to sniffing; one being Lush & the other The Body Shop. Today I’m going to be chatting through the three festive scents from The Body Shop for 2016.

Spiced Apple is a progression from last years Glazed Apple only this years is much more cinnamon and spice based, which I for one am all for! It’s certainly much more festive than previous years and definitely gets me all excited for the big day! (18 more sleeps – woop!) I have the Spiced Apple Shower Gel which lathers great and leaves me feeling squeaky clean. It’s the perfect scent for an evening pamper, especially with a cinnamon based candle, now that would be bliss!

Frosted Berries is much sweeter and is predominately cranberry based which smells absolutely divine. I’m a fan of sweeter scents, so this one was always going to be a winner for me. I’ve particularly enjoyed using the Frosted Berries Body Lotion on a morning as the almost sickly sweet scent sticks around with you all day and hydrates the skin perfectly.

Vanilla Chai, if I’m totally honest, isn’t really my kind of thing, however thankfully for you, I think I’m on my own with this one. To me it’s too heavily spiced, there are notes of vanilla although personally I think this is overshadowed by the star anise and cardamom scents which are also contained in this product. The Vanilla Chai Body Lotion works well at hydrating & smoothing the skin, however for me I probably won’t get too much use out of it, due to the scent.

Have you tried anything from TheBody Shops festive ranges? What are your favourite festive products?

Thank you so much for reading. I can’t believe we’re already one week into #Blogmas.

Beauty | Just Peachy Nails With The Body Shop.

I’m not big on nails, as I’m sure you’re aware if you regularly read my blog. I haven’t come across that many polishes that make me want to rant & rave, but this Colour Crush from The Body Shop, it’s too much of a goodie, not to tell you about it.

I have the shade Just Peachy which isn’t at all festive, but I’m sure digging the summertime vibes during this bitterly cold Winter we’re having... Anything to try make me feel less cold, ey.

I was instantly impressed with the formulation of the Colour Crush. It’s like no other nail polish I’ve applied, it’s wonderful, and so so easy to pop on! The shade Just Peachy is super opaque, only needing one coat and applied so much quicker than I’d imagined. It dried pretty quickly too, I was really surprised that I didn’t have to be super careful while letting it dry. What’s not to love right? Finally the longevity of the polish, which is what I look for in a nail varnish, is great, I’d say it lasts around 5-6 days before chipping, which as far as nail polishes go, is pretty fricken good.

I don’t know too much about Nail Polishes, but from what I do know, this one’s a cracker!

Have you got your nails festive ready? Or are you like me & clinging onto every last hope of Summer?

Thank you for reading.

Beauty | Loreal Gold Obsession Lipsticks.

Well aren’t these the most festive lipsticks you’ve laid your eyes on? These lipsticks scream Christmas to me, what with their black & gold packaging and glittery inner product. What’s not to love?

I’m majorly digging Loreal at the moment, so I didn’t really need much persuasion when it came to handing my money over. I was sold on the packaging alone, but let me tell you about what 24 carat goodness lies inside.

As I was in a festive mood, I opted for the shades Plum Gold & Nude Gold, colours which say exactly what they do on the tin. I’ve really enjoyed wearing both shades over the last few weeks, Nude Gold is a brown toned nude with a slight rosy undertone to it, one of those (and I hate to say it) my lips but better shades. It’s a really versatile shade & one that can be thrown on really easily for any occasion. Plum Gold is a dark vampy berry shade, ideal for this time of year, and dare I say it, possibly my favourite berry shade lippie of all time. Both shades have a slight glitter to them which when applied gives the lips a super hydrated, nourished look, which God knows I could do with right now!

The formulation of the Loreal GoldObsession Lipsticks, is one of the creamiest I’ve tried. Truth be told, I feel like I’m applying more of a gloss than a lipstick, only without that usual stickiness that you get with a gloss. These lipsticks are amazing to apply, they contain Omega 3 oils so it feels like I’m hydrating my lips as well as adding colour to them, which is always a brucie bonus! The pigmentation of the Gold Obsession lipsticks are great too – I thought because they apply so smoothly, the effect would be more sheer, however you definitely get a decent colour pay off with these. I was rather impressed!

There are five shades in the Gold Obsession range, including Pink Gold, Rouge Gold & probably the most festively statement shade of all, Pure Gold.

Have you tried any of the LorealGold Obsession lipsticks? Would you rock the 24 carat look for Christmas?

Thank you so much for reading. I hope you’re enjoying my #Blogmas series so far.

Beauty | Soap & Glory Drama Clean Micellar Water.

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know I’m all for fuss free makeup & skincare so when I saw the Soap & Glory Drama Clean 5in1 Micellar Water it’s safe to say I was a teeny bit intrigued!

I’m a huge fan of micellar waters! They’re just so simple and easy to use and generally have an amazing effect without a lot of effort. A couple of squirts of the Drama Clean Micellar Water on a clean cotton pad and away you go!

The magnetizing micellar water attracts makeup and dead skin cells (gross, sorry) crazy quick! It’s amazing how quickly this product gives you clear skin, which for me, a lazy kinda gal, if perfect! As well as cleansing, this product softens and hydrates the skin, meaning it’s absolutely ideal for this time of year. God knows my skin’s definitely felt the chill this year.
Admittedly it took me a while to get on with this product and that’s purely down to the scent. The Drama Clean has a heavy cucumber scent, which usually I’d be 100% on board with, I flipping love cucumber, however in a Micellar Water it took a little while for me to get used to it. I think this was elevated even more so,  as I’d previously been using the Garnier Micellar Water which is totally scent free so the cucumber scent seemed to pack more of a punch. It’s grown on me though! And now I definitely look forward to using this product to remove my makeup.

I’m a huge fan of their makeup & body care but this is the first Soap & Glory skincare product I’ve used. What else would you recommend? Have you tried the Drama Clean Micellar Water before?

Thank you so much for reading! I’m trying my hand at Blogmas again this year, so I’d love to see you back tomorrow.

Beauty | Lush So White.

Is it even #Blogmas if I don’t post about a Lush bath bomb?

I love this time of year, cosying up in front of the fire, drinking mugs upon mugs of hot chocolate and finishing nights indulging in Lush infused bubble baths. Sounds heavenly right? Today I’m going to be talking to you about the So White bath bomb from Lush: A very unassuming product that packs a hella load of punch!

So what’s the big surprise you ask!... Well, So White is a super bright white apple themed bath bomb, but when you pop it in the bath, well that’s where the party starts! Gone is the unassuming white bath bomb, and out comes  a blue & yellow swirl of foam as well as an explosion of gorgeous smells, making the most divine bath. I’ve seen bath bombs foam, but with So White, it’s a whole different story!

So White is predominantly apple based so has a beautifully crisp scent. This is what initially drew me to the product, I think after attending the #WildAboutLeeds event last month & having a preview of The Body Shops spiced apple range, I’ve been going apple crazy! As well as being super appley, So White is packed full of all kinds of nourishing oils including bergamot, neroli & orange oil which leaves the skin feeling amazing. SoWhite is so moisturising & perfect for this time of year, in fact it’d make an amazing Christnas Eve pamper night product… Does anyone else plan their baths this far in advance. Ha!

Have you tried So White before? What’s your favourite Lush bath bomb?

Thank you for reading. Have a lovely Christmas.

Makeup has been a constant in my life for the last decade or so, however something that hasn’t is makeup tools. I was very much a hands on kinda gal when I was younger & had a slapdash approach when it came to applying (or hurtling) makeup to my face.

Last month I was very kindly invited to The Body Shop#WildAboutLeeds event where I was rather generously gifted with a few beauty tools, some of which I’m going to talk to you about today.

The Body Shop Cleansing Sponge* is the product  I was most excited to try, I’m quite big on skincare, especially around this time of year (as soon as November comes around it seems that my skin instantly transforms into sand paper) so any tools that can help within my skincare regime are very much welcome. The sponge is incredibly soft & squishy to touch which as I’m sure you can imagine, feels so amazing on the skin, especially when added with an incredible cleanser. The sponge is the absolute perfect size, and shape for that matter… A couple of quick sweeps and the face is thoroughly cleansed which is great if you’re on the lookout for super speedy ways to cut down your skincare regime. The BodyShop Cleansing Sponge has been a great addition to my skincare regime, It’s not a product that’ll last forever, but as the product only costs £4.00 I think it’s great. It’d make a brilliant addition in a skincare Christmas hamper.

It’s only over the last year or so that I’ve used lash curlers (I’m a bad blogger I know) as beforehand I’d always deemed it unnecessary, I’ve always been one for speed when it comes to makeup so if a stage can be swept under the rug, I’m 100% going to be sweeping! The Body ShopEyelash Curlers* have definitely helped give my lashes a bit of oomph, curling each and every one of them & making them look as fluttery as possible. It’s amazing the difference lash curlers make when applying mascara, and even though I still kind of see it as not 100% necessary, I’ll use this product pretty much every day, I’m sure.

The Body Shop isn’t a place I’d necessarily shop in for makeup brushes, I’m not entirely sure why, it’s just not the first place that springs to mind, so I was really excited when I opened The Body Shop EyeshadowBrush*. I don’t wear eyeshadow that often, for me it’s something I wear on special occasions, or when I’m feeling particularly experimental (yupp, I’m wild) so this brush felt like a total treat. The brush is quite dense for its size & had a super flat edge, which makes it a great tool for packing eyeshadow onto the lid. It’s not too great at blending, but I’d usually use a fluffier brush to ensure a seamless transition of colour, so that isn’t something that particularly bothers me. I love the look of The Body Shop brushes, they’re monochromatic, super sleek and simple, and looks great in my collection.

Surprisingly the product I’ve gotten way more use that I thought, is The Body Shop Brow & Lash Comb*. I’m all for spoolies, but this product has been amazing, especially when it comes to the lash side of things & separating mascara clumps. Again it’s something I haven’t particularly thought of before, but this brush is SO handy! It’s great and helps leave my lashes looking super long and defined.

I’m not sure if there’s too much you can say about tweezers, but The Body Shop Slanted Tweezers* have been great. I recently had my brows threaded and at the moment, they’re in that whispy type growing out stage, so going back in with these tweezers has been a must! Being slanted, they grip the hairs perfectly, ensuring pain free removal… Or as pain free as plucking can be!

I’ve really enjoyed trying out some of The Body Shops beauty tools, like I said, all five of these products aren’t tools I’d particularly go for, for one reason or another, but I’ve been really pleasantly surprised. I really must go to The Body Shop more often!

Do you shop in The Body Shop for beauty tools? What would you recommend? If not, tell me you’re favourite Body Shop product, I’m a sucker for the body butters.

Thank you for reading & have a wonderful Christmas.

Event | The Body Shop Christmas Collection

So the C word has finally been mentioned on the blog! I've seen it circling the bloggersphere over the last couple of weeks however today's the day Christmas finally hits ClaireMac! Wahoo! Earlier in the week I was luckily invited down to The Body Shop at Meadowhall for a sneaky preview of their new Christmas products.

The Body Shop are offering up three new festive scents for their Christmas collection; Frosted plum, glazed apple & frosted cranberry. Each scent holds body butters, hand creams, shower gels, candles and so much more - You're going to have absolutely no problem finding that perfect gift for your loved one! All three scents are absolutely stunning, I'm always a sucker for fruity smells so these were always going to be winners in my eye but my favourite has gotta be the frosted plum! It's just divine!

Along with the new fragrances, The Body Shop also had gift sets available of some of the most popular scents. I love the way The Body Shop has packaged their products this year, they're super slick looking & would look absolutely ace under anyones' Christmas tree. A few of my faves included the smaller, more stocking filler gift sets such as the Strawberry Festive Cracker & the Lippy Star Wand - They both look totally adorable!... Although the star could prove pretty tricky to wrap! Eep! The Italian Fig gift set really took my fancy (Hint hint to anyone out there wanting to buy me and presents. Ha!) I'd first given it a whiff at #TheCityGirls event where Leah from The White Rose store was showcasing some of the new products. It's safe to say I'd fallen in love with the scent straight away! I absolutely adore how a single whiff of the product takes me right back to being on holiday. It's just amazing!

After having a little mooch around the store, we were ushered towards the makeup counter where specialist makeup artist Chanelle would be applying & demonstrating a few new products. Chanelle started with the fresh nude foundation & all in one concealer to provided a flawless base. The shade range of the foundation is quite impressive & I was really surpised at how quickly and evenly the product immersed itself into the skin. She then went in with the new Christmas Grooving Gold eye shadow palette which contains four beautiful glitzy shades, which when paired together make the ultimate Christmas smokey eye! Something that caught my eye during the makeup tutorial was the lip & cheek stain, a dual purpose product that injects a super cute rosy glow. Chanelle then applied a bit of extra mascara and two liners, the matte black kajal was applied to the upper lash line & then the brand spanking new metallic silver glitter liner was popped on the lower lash line. The whole makeup look was completed in less than half an hour, so it was fab so see how speedily a full face of product could be applied. I'm not sure if I could have done it myself, but it was amazing to get a few tips and tricks from Chanelle!

A huge thanks goes to Sophie, the store manager at the Meadowhall store for inviting me to the fabulous event. The frosted plum scent was definitely my favourite of the new Christmas scents, of which you'll see in a future blog post as I picked up quite a few bits from the range.... Treating myself an all that!

Have you tried any of the new Christmas scents yet? If not, which one do you think would be your favourite? Frosted plum, glazed apple or frosted cranberry? Leave your answers in the comments below.

Thank you for reading. Lots of love | Claire.

Beauty | Loreal Miss Hippe Mega Volume Mascara

I've fallen hook, line & sinker in love with Loreal over the last few months & a new favourite to my collection is the Miss Hippie Mega Volume Mascara.

I didn't particularly need a new mascara when I picked this beauty up a few weeks ago, I was very much making the most of the Boots three for two offer, so this is both a total fluke & godsend rolled into one.

Miss Hippie was created to give lashes a festival look, which initially I found a little confusing... Festival ready lashes? Is that even a thing?.. But I'm going to go with the loose connotation that this mascara leaves the lashes extra fluttery and feathery, which for me is exactly I desire from a mascara.
I want my lashes to appear voluminous, super jet black and lengthened, and this drugstore mascara does exactly that! Miss Hippie retails for £7.99 which I think is an absolute bargain, especially for the quality!
I'm very fussy when it comes to mascara wands but find this one coats every single one of my lashes perfectly due to it's short bristles super fuzzy brush. I love applying this product as it seems to completely transform my lashes.

It's the perfect product to use without shadow or a liner, but still create a dramatic eye look.

Have you tried Miss Hippie before? I've been so impressed with Loreal recently, what products would you reccomend?

Lifestyle | Choosing A Wedding Venue.

If you've read my previous post 'I've Said Yes Now What Do We Do?' Then you'll know that Dan & I recently got engaged and have begun or journey of wedding planning. Today I'm going to talk to you about finding our perfect venue, and also let you into a little secret... We've set a date!

When discussing our Wedding, Dan & I knew we wanted quite a casual, stripped back kind of day, with close friends and family seeing us tie the knot. For us getting married isn't particularly about the day, we're not fussed on spending thousands of pounds on an all singing, all dancing wedding - We want the day be about us two getting married & sharing that special time with loved ones.

Dan & I are very outdoorsy people & have often chosen a holiday in the Lakes/Peaks over one abroad, so it seemed only natural to theme our big day around this. We love old country houses and barns situated in the middle of nowhere, so initially chose this as our starting point when looking for our perfect venue.
We're currently living in Leeds however there was no question for us on choosing a location to get married... We were going back up north. Back with our families, back where we came from. The North East has some stunning countryside wedding venues to offer however pretty much from the get go there was always a front runner for us... Nothing else seemed to compare.

Wrays Barn at Whinstone View was one of the very first Wedding Venue's we looked at, and it just felt right! The rustic charm, gorgeous gardens, perfect location and cute wooden log cabins. Wrays Barn brings together a mix of rustic woods and natural materials, but still has a modern charm to it with it's carefully thought out lighting & interior decor. It's the perfect setting for our natural country themed wedding. We considered all boxes to be ticked & we visited pretty much immediately.

We sat down with our wedding coordinator, discussed what it was we're after and fell in love with the place!

So that's it. No going back now! We're all booked up to tie the knot in 2018, and for us the date can't come quick enough!

Do you have any Wedding pinterest boards? If so, feel free to hook me up. It's all I'e been doing lately on mine.

Event | The Body Shop #WildAboutLeeds Lamberts Yard, Leeds, UK.

If you're local to Leeds & have been walking around town thinking 'Why the hell is The Body Shop boarded up?'... Well I'm about to blooming well tell you.

I don't manage to get into Leeds that often however seeing that The Body Shop has been closed for the past couple of months has saddened me greatly. I didn't really know what was happening to the store, but taking the timescale into consideration I knew it was going to be something good... And I wasn't wrong!

The store will be reopening on Saturday 5th November as a new concept store... The very first of it's kind!

It will be an amazing addition to Leeds & if the interior & exterior drawings are anything to go by, it's going to be completely stunning. The new store will be pretty much completely window lined, allowing as much natural light into the premises as possible along with a new interior decor mirroring The Body Shops natural ethos. Inside there'll be specialist skincare & makeup stations as well as a pretty fricken amazing body butter display. not to dissimilar to that of an old sweet shop.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the grand opening on November 5th (damn you work) but I'll definitely be popping through on my next day off. I can't wait to see what to see what the store looks like in real life - I bet it's even better than the concept images.

The Body Shops Christmas campaign this year is jungle themed #JungleBells as it marks their 40 anniversary and lifelong dedication to campaigning against animal testing. For every specially selected Christmas gift bought, The Body Shop will help protect endangered species and restore one square meter of rain forest, which to me is a pretty amazing thing to be a part of.

Huge thank you to Ajay & the girls from The Body Shop for their generosity & hospitality! #WildAboutLeeds
