Tag | Confessions Of A Beauty Blogger

Yesterday afternoon I was tagged by the lovely Jess Glitterbat to complete the 'Confessions Of A Beauty Blogger' tag. When I first started my blog all those moons ago I considered it to be purely fashion based as I was a complete cosmetics amateur, so to be tagged in Jess' post shows just how much my blog has evolved. So without further a do, here are my confessions... (I can't help but have Usher in my head)...

1. How many hours a week do you spend planning/writing/uploading posts?
For me it really varies week to week, I don't schedule any of my posts so some weeks I may post only once, whereas others I'll post 4 or 5 times. My work commitments also play a part in how often I post, I can work anywhere between 20 and 40 hours a week, it's pretty unpredictable, but obviously the more I'm working the less action you'll see on my blog. I'd say on average though that each post takes a couple of hours from start to finish - I'm really bad for getting distracted too so if there's something good on telly it'll probably take me double that! Oops!

2. Are you a spender or a saver?
I'd like to say saver... I used to be really good, I'd find it so easy to save a large percentage of my wage, but just recently I've gone from being paid weekly to being paid monthly and it's completely buggered up my saving abilities. I've also just recently moved to Leeds, and the shops here are sooo much better than my home town so I'm still in that 'new & exciting' phase with Leeds and kind of can't help myself. I need to get back into saving, Dan & I are wanting to buy a house this year so I best get my butt in gear and start saving more of those pennies!

3. When is easiest to write your posts?
During the day, it's so much easier to photograph with natural sunlight, but I like getting cosy on the sofa, putting my feet up & writing a post before Dan gets in from work. We've both got our own hobbies, so we tend to do those while the other person is at work and then spend the time we have together with each other - The way it should be.

4. What makes writing posts comfortable for you?
Cosy clothes! You'll often find me snuggled up in my Disney Aristocats pjamas wrapped up in a throw on the sofa. We have the comfiest sofas ever, they're really slouchy so will probably do nothing for our postures but they're brilliant for slobbing out & even sleeping on. Also coffee! I've been known to drink 10 or so cups of coffee a day, I'm trying to cut down, but nothing even comes close, I'm pretty much addicted.

5. What's your worst makeup/hair habit?
Not getting my hair cut. I'm booked in for two days time actually, but this will be my first hair cut for around 8 months. It's completely out of laziness though, I've got no one to blame but myself unfortunately. It's crazy how 6 weeks turns into 3 months, which then turns into 8. The ends of my hair at the moment are so bad, I'm itching to get the chop now, I'm going to get a couple if inches off to try restore some health back into it.

6. What's one quote you wish the world would live by?
Maybe not the world... But when I was younger one of my friends made me a plaque for a birthday which said 'eveything will be okay in the end, if it's not okay then it's not the end'. I think there needs to be a bit more positivity in people and this quote sums it up perfectly.

7. How long do you spend getting ready every day?
I try do it as fast as possible, I'll always try and have as much sleep time as I can - Lazy I know. Time wise, if I'm not washing my hair I'd say half an hour, if I am though it'll probably take double, if not more just because it's so long and thick. What seems to take the longest amount of time in my makeup routine is getting my eyebrows on point, I'm overly obsessed with getting them symmetrical, it's one of the most annoying things, but when it's good it's blooming brilliant! You know you're starting a good day when you've got strong brow game!

8.  What are your favourite posts on your blog?
Anything where we've been out exploring the country & discovering new places. I love looking back on memory posts rather than ootd's & beauty posts, I think blogging is a fab way of documenting these days - It's a lovely piece to look back on.

9. Who is a beauty blogger you think deserves more subscribers than they have?
Ruby over at meplusmymakeup, I met her at my very first blogger event up in Newcastle and have been an avid follower ever since. She certainly knows her stuff & her makeup looks are insanely good! Go check her out!

10. What's one thing you're excited about in this coming year?
Buying a house... Hopefully! I started a savings account when I was 21 so it feels like I've been saving forever, but this year is going to be our year! In my head I know exactly how I want our home to look so fingers crossed we'll be able to get it - I'm ridiculously excited to decorate & get everything all homely.

11. What's your favorite blogging moment?
I'm reading this as 'moments' because my answer for this one it getting to go to loads of cool events & meeting some absolutely gorgeous, brilliant bloggers. It's fab getting to meet people with the same interests as you, somebody who feels your pain when you can't quite get the correct lighting for your photos. I've been really lucky to go to a few events now & barring one, I've thoroughly enjoyed myself.

12. How long does it take to prep a post?
I think I've answered this question already, I must have been rambling! But a couple of hours I'd say from start to finish.

13. Are you wearing jeans/skirt right now or are you wearing pjama bottoms?
Come on... It's a sunday! Of course I'm wearig pjama bottoms. I'm wearing my kermit the frog pj's at the moment, wrapped up in Dans' dressing gown. I am the epitome of cosy right now!

14. What are you most proud of in your life?
Moving away from home. I'm a complete home bird and the village where I'm from nobody tends to leave. But last year we made the move and tottled down to Leeds & it's been the best decision I think we've made. It does nothing for my bank balance like I said, but it's bloody brilliant down here. I'm still a northern bird though, through & through!

There we have it! Those we're my confessions. I'm going to tag Amy J Walters, Ruby Barton at Me Plus My Makeup & Lucinda at The Fashion Fictionary. Good luck ladies! If you want to write up your own confessions, please feel free.
