Beauty | Extending My Foundation Collection

It's no secret that I'm the most boring person when it comes to foundation... I'm the absolute epitome of the quote 'stick with what you know' as I've been using the same foundation for the last eight years or so now. And that is my beloved Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid, I'd love to know how much I've spent in total on this little bottle of goodness.. I bet it's a shocking figure!!
Anywho, at the ripe old age of 24 I've decided to try something new and get out of my foundation rut, so here's what I picked up...

Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid (10 Ivory)
Firstly let me tell you why I love this foundation so much... It gives medium to light coverage which for me is perfect, I don't have particularly bad skin, the only thing I would say is that i i's quite dull, so this foundation gives me that much needed pick me up. The air whipped liquid glides effortlessly across my skin, its super slick formula blends really quickly and easily into my skin which is ideal for a lazy gal like me. The longevity of this foundation is fab too, I can confidently go about my daily business without worrying about this product. The 30ml bottle retails in at £7.99 so it's super duper affordable - I love it!... Is it any wonder I've been using this product for such a long time?

Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour (005 Light Beige)
The first of my newies!... I've stuck with Maybelline, but boy this is so much different from the Dream Satin Liquid. This is a much heavier foundation that gives a completely full coverage, it leaves a flawless finish however it's so much more effort to apply. I found even using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush it took so long to blend in, granted once you get there it looks amazing but just be prepared to put a bit of elbow grease into it! I don't know if this actually lasts for 24 hours like it claims, anyone wearing foundation for that amount of time shame on you, but the staying power of this foundation is bloody good. This product will set you back a grand total of £8.99, so again pretty cheap, I can see past the application process and tell you that I'd quite happily wear this, and would probably repurchase again once this one's ran out.

Rimmel Match Perfection (100 Ivory)
Another light to medium coverage foundation, which works perfectly for me - I much prefer this more natural look, especially for everyday wear, this works fab! It's a very dewy foundation which will be amazing for Spring/Summer, I'll more than likely be wearing this during that time rather than the Dream Satin Liquid - Shock horror!! This blends beautifully and leaves my skin looking so radiant & fresh, I absolutely love it! It's got good staying power too - I don't think I have a bad word to say about this product, I'm struggling to criticise it, it's just fab! This is the cheapest out of the three foundations, coming in at £6.99 which is amazing, especially considering how long it will last me. Thank you Rimmel!!

Out of the three foundations I think I've done really really really well. I'll probably stick with my Dream Satin Liquid untill it runs out, which won't be too long & will probably take me up to Spring which will be perfect for cracking out the Rimmel Match Perfection. Woop! Because the Super Stay 24 Hour foundation is so heavy I'll probably just use this for nights out when I'm needing a bit more coverage.

So I've been enjoying all three, but all for completely different reasons. Have you tried any of these foundations before? What have you thought to them?

  1. I haven't tried any of the above, but am currently using Barry M's Flawless Finish foundation which is really good. It also benefits from having moisturisers with skin-healing properties. It's only £5.99, so it's a perfect budget, everyday foundation for me. :) xxx

    1. Oooh I've never tried a Barry M foundation before, I don't know why? I should probably check it out. It sounds lovely! I'm all for a bit of extra moisture in my makeup. X

  2. I haven't tried any of those ones you've mentioned but if you're ever on the lookout for any more my favourites from the high street have got to be Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum or L'Oreal True Match! :) I love them both and the shade range is pretty good too.
