Blogmas Day 2 - Outfit: Winterfied Swing Dress

Hi guys, so we're onto day two of Blogmas & I'm still going strong! Ha. If there's something to get excited about over Christmas, it's the catching up with friends, evenings out & getting dressed up for festive parties. As much as I love new clothes today I'm reusing an old swing style dress & styling it to suit the much more wintery weather we've been having. I absolutely love this look & think it would work brilliantly for a whole load of festive shenanegans.

I picked up this swing style dress rather unseasonably in the middle of Summer & even though I've toughened it up (or winterfied it) it worked just as well with a pair of sandals & a beach bag. I've found myself buying more and more basic transitional pieces the older I get just because (and it's rather hypocrital to say as a fashion blogger) but there's much better things than clothes to spend my money on. I do love this dress though & I find the fit really flattering for my body shape, considering I'm pretty much straight up and down this looks awesome & super femenine on. My only gripe is that I wish it was that little bit longer, I find that because the skirts really floaty any sharp movement or if there's a sudden gust of wind & you'll be getting a full on view of my backside! So little shorts are a must when wearing this dress.
I've toughened my look up the only way I know how with a leather look biker jacket, for me these completely transform an outfit & with this one having a fur collar it's perfect for this time of year! I'm also wearing a pair of black wedge knee high boots, I've had these for such a long time but have only recently re-discovered them. I think i've worn them more times in the last month than I have in the previous three years. I've been seriously loving this look this fesive season.
Also I'm not totally sure if it goes with my outfit but I recently treated myself to this cobalt cross body bag & I haven't been able to put it down. The shape chanells the Michael Kors style bags however I picked this one up in the Primark sale at a teeny tiny fraction of the price. The colour's absolutely beautiful & is making me want to buy more cobalt blue items!

What do you think of transitioning summer dresses into winter outfits?

Thanks for stopping by. Lots of love.

  1. Wow, you look gorgeous! Loving the hair! It's great when items are versatile enough to wear throughout the year. It's surprisingly easy to transform Summery dresses for Winter; adding a cardigan or gilet, tights and boots. Even adding a jumper over the top half, creating a whole new look with the bottom of the dress acting as the skirt! xxx

    1. Thanks chick! I think I look really different in these pics - its just from changing the way my hair is parted. Bizarrely I think I look like one of my work colleagues, she was a bit werided out when I told her. Ha. X

  2. I love this look Claire! Having dresses that you can work throughout the year is a blessing. Those boots are divine and the dress is so flattering on you. I think this outfit would look so cute with a fur gilet and a big floppy hat too! xxxx Victoria www.thedaisyjaynes.com
