Beauty: MUA Atomic Lip Lacquer

So i realise I'm over a year late with reviewing this MUA Luxe Lip Lacquer, but I really feel like I've been through some real trials and tribulations with it. It's been one of those love/hate products for me & I didn't want to write anything up until I really knew what I thought of the product. I think half the trouble with this product is that I had such such high expectations... But i'll get into that a little later on.
At the time MUA had five colurs in their Luxe Lip Lacquer range (they now have 10) but it was 'Atomic' that called out to me.

Atomic is a super punchy coral/pink colour, it's much more bold on the lips than it appears in the tube so I think you have to be pretty brave to pull this colour off. The rest of your make up would have to be pretty neutral and slick to accommodate for such a daring colour.
I found applying this product really quite frustrating... The colour glides on pretty easily, but that's where the compliments stop sadly. I've never really had a problem applying lip products but because this Lacquer is so highly pigmented any little wobbles or mistakes were completely noticeable, and they didn't budge! It was almost as if this product was bleeding into the rest of my face - Not a good look obviously. You have to be quick when correcting any mistakes (like super quick) because it dries almost instantly. I scrubbed and scrubbed with make up wipes & cotton pads but it just wasn't budging.
Obviously this displays its longevity, which was really good but it's a bit of a catch 22 situation with this product unfortunately. You need to be extra careful & get this Lacquer right first time, but once it's on, its on!
I found this product to be quite uncomfortable on my lips. It dries almost like a face mask, you know where your face will feel all stiff and you have to sit super still in order not to crack the product... Well this is that exact feeling. It's so bizzare!
This MUA products only costs £3.00 which is barely anything when it comes to cosmetics and maybe I should be thinking about it more on a price basis, but even for the measly price tag I don't think I'll be repurchasing. It seems more hassle than it's worth for me unfortunately.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this product if you've tried it. I've tried other MUA products and have always been pretty impressed but theres just something about this that didn't quite sit right with me.

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

  2. I didn't like these either! It felt weird on my lips and it crumbled after a while. I much prefer the Bourjois Velvet lipsticks!

    1. Oh good. I'm glad I'm not the only one who wasn't impressed with the product. It's such a srange formula, I've not tried the Bourjois velvet lipies, I've only ever heard good things though so maybe I should! X
