Weekend Wisdom: What Non Bloggers Don't Realise About Blogging.

This is going to be the first installment of my 'Weekend Wisdom' series, something I'm going to try complete most Friday nights as a little thought for the coming weekend. Today I'll be talking about non bloggers (I'm dying to call them muggles) and their expectations of us bloggers - This is something that seems to come up every twitter char I've been a part of so I thought this would be a fab topic to start with!

1. We do it for the free stuff: The ultimate bug bearer for most bloggers. When I first started blogging & even now when I introduce myself as a fashion blogger the same question always gets asked pretty much straight away... 'So what free stuff do you get'... or 'You're doing it for the free stuff aren't you'. Honestly this is the most annoying thing in the world, ever! I love blogging, having something to work on and something to work towards is super rewarding.

2. We're all soooo vain & attention seeking: No! I can kind of see why non bloggers would make this assumption, but we're really not. How else can you display your newest clothing items without getting your mugshot in there. And nobody wants to look like a minger! It's hard word & takes a lot to get the perfect shots, especially for a perfectionist freak like myself.

3. It takes up so much time. For me blogging feels like a part time job. Something I come home to after my full time job and crack on with. It's not just writing posts, its promoting them and keeping up with social medias as well that takes up so much time. I love doing it though, and wouldn't change it for the world, but there are times when I'm so pooped I'll crawl into bed and be out like a light!

4. We're super trendy all the time. Oh god no! I'm currently sat writing this in the fluffiest pjamas I own... And... The top doesn't even match the bottoms. How embarrassing. I love down days, no make up, no fancy clothes, just a proper relaxed day.Even a day without technology is amazing. I think you need to have chilled out days, just to keep the creativity alive & not to forced.

5. We have loads of supportive online friends. Sometimes the idea of meeting/speaking to people online is a little strange but the blogging community is such a cool place & an awesome thing to be a part of. I've never had a bad experience and found every blogger I've met or spoken to, to be so supportive. It's really encouraging and such a big motivation boost to keep posting.

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

  1. I think it should be a widely accepted thing to call non-bloggers muggles! I completely agree, we aren't all vain, I DEFINITELY have more non-trendy days than trendy ones; but I have met some really amazing supportive friends throughout this journey.

    1. I totally agree with you and this post! I love my non-trendy days just laying in bed either working on my blog or reading them! And non-bloggers really have no clue how much time and effort actually goes into blogging. But it has become my biggest passion and I can't even imagine a life not being a blogger.

    2. Haha awesome! I dunno where it came from, I just had that sudden Harry Potter related urge to call them muggles. Weird! Yeah, the blogging community is amazing isn't it! :-) Me either, I can't imagine not doing what I'm doing. Imagine how much spare time we'd have - It'd be soo boring! Ha. X

  2. I second the motion to refer to non-bloggers on muggles.

I'm not a fashion blogger so I don't have to deal with a lot of these, but I think some misconceptions just apply across the board. And it can get super frustrating! But it is always so worth it. And I have definitely made some pretty awesome friends through it (:

  3. This is so true especially number 4. I'm sitting at home working on a post with my fave sweats on and a basic top. Couldn't feel nicer. My blog is like a public journal I can look back on later I don't get free stuff it's just for fun. :) Doesn't feel like work at all… www.minttuscloset.blogspot.fi

  4. Agree with all of these points! And yeah the 'free stuff' that bloggers get isn't really free when you consider how much effort goes into to taking the perfect photographs and finding the perfect words to along with it! It's bloody hard work!! :)
