Beauty: My Five Product Face

Hey folks, hope everyone's keeping okay. Today I thought I'd give you a little insight into the five products I use daily to transform my face from the gremlin I wake up like to becoming a half decent(ish) presentable face.

I'm a strong believer in maintaining a good skincare routine, and the earlier you can start the better. I've used moisturiser on and off for as long as I can remember but only recently 'got into' last year. I'm very strict with myself making sure I restore the moisture back into my skin first thing on a morning and just before going to bed. I love the feeling of hydration it gives my skin & I love the way it looks/feels after using. A good moisturiser is the perfect base for the days makeup.

I can't really remember when I first purchased this foundation, it feels like it's something I've always had in my life. It's been constantly sat on my bedside table for what seems like forever. This Maybelline foundation gives quite a light coverage however can be built up really easily depending on how much you need. The silky formula lasts all day too even in warm weather - It's definitely my 'go to' product!

For me this is a little on the pricey side for what I normally pay for cosmetics but by golly, it's worth it! After receiving a sample size in a Birchbox delivery I instantly knew I had to repurchase, I love everything about this mascara. I'm pretty new to Benefit products (I must be the only one) as this is only my second purchase, and have to say so far I'm immensely impressed.

Eyebrow grooming has been a big thing of recent times and the I-Groom tool from New Cid is absolutely brilliant. The pencil is angled perfectly to make filling in eyebrows a walk in the park and even if you do make a mistake with it it's easily correctable.

Another Birchbox beauty! This rosy coral cream can be used as a cheek tint as well as a lip balm... The perfect two in one combination makeup tool! The cream glides on so easily & has such a lovely silky finish to it. It's perfection!

Have you tried any of these products? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Beauty: MAC Prep & Prime*

An opportunity was made available to myself not so long ago that I really really couldn't refuse.... A free sample size of MAC's Prep & Prime Skin Base Visage. I (of course) immediately signed myself up for the promotion for a few reasons... 1. I love trying new beauty products. 2. I've actually been looking for a primer for a while now, I just didnt really know where to go. 3. With the Summer sun I was really interested to see how the primer would fare in the sweltering heat. 4. And finally - It was free*. Who doesn't love free stuff.

I've used primers here and there before but unfortunately have never really loved something enough to repurchase (maybe I'm fussy) - I'm pretty big on skincare and feel using my standard moisturisers usually acts as a strong enough base for my makeup, but sometimes I need that little bit extra to smooth my skin... MAC's Prep & Prime probably came at just the right time!

I was really surprised how little I needed to cover my full face, I only used two small pumps at a time so the product lasts a really long time. I was also super impressed with how quickly it changed my skin from being really dewy to being the perfect base for my makeup. My face was almost instantly oil-free and my blotches were reduced leaving me with a super silky smooth base. My makeup applied like a dream after using Prep & Prime and seemed to last so much longer, especially during Summer and having a bit warmer weather. Looking at the full size bottle, Prep & Prime does seem a little pricey however considering how much I'd use per day & how long the bottle would last I'd say it was a really good deal.

I think I've finally found a primer that I like & even though I may not use it every day I'll definitely be repurchasing. I just adore the silky smooth feeling it gives my skin, and you know me, I'm big on skincare!

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Outfit: Sports Luxe & Ripped Jeans

Today I went to my first ever Car Boot Sale over in Stokesley and even though I didn't buy anything I still had a brilliant day. You can pick up some complete bargains at Car Bootys, it's true what they say, 'One persons trash is another persons treasure'. There were loads of super cute retro kitchen appliances, pretty coloured glass vases & enough sweets to last a lifetime.

So today I've finally dug out this fury leather jacket! I don't usually wear this one as I prefer brown leather but I couldn't say no to the fury collar keeping my neck warm, especially on a day like today. Next stop will be wearing hats and scarves, and for me it's probably not too far away! Brr. I've had this Sports Luxe top a little while now, if you read my blog you'll probably be sick of the sight of it but I'm not & I absolutely love it. The tops cut is brilliantly fitted with loose sleeves and the waffle texture makes it super cosy! I absolutely love it! I'm trying to steer away from my usual skinny jeans so these Boyfriend cut ones made for a welcome change. I think the rips add to the casualness (if that's a word) of my outfit & take me back to my tomboy days (Oh those were the days). So maybe sandals weren't the best idea, my toes were absolutely freezing an hour into mooching around the Car Booty. I had a feeling this was going to be the case but I thought these Birkenstock lookelikeys looked way cooler with my outfit than anything else - Fashion over practicality today guys! Yes sir!

What do you guys think of todays' more casual look?

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Outfit/Adventures: Pastels & Picnics

Because of the bad weather we've been having recently I really didn't think we'd be doing what we did today - If I'm honest I thought that was it for Summer, all two weeks of it (typical Brit moan) but today we had a lovely day adventuring up to Roseberry Topping.

I've been loving the pastel trend this Summer but this is the first knitwear item I've bought. I actually quite like this time of year, as much as I've whinged about our pitiful Summer, I love getting wrapped up in comfy cosy clothes, sitting down in front of the fire with a Galaxy Hot Chocolate. Mmmm, drooling just thinking about it! Anywho... I picked this sweater up in the New Look sale not too long ago while out shopping with my friend Hannah, she was holiday clothes shopping & I was picking up winter knits! When I'd got to the till the sales assistant said to me 'gosh you're pessimistic aren't you, it's the middle of August' but that's me all over, I hate being cold! Brrr! I've opted for a pair of simple black skinnies today too just because they show less dirt! Ha. I've got this awful habit of slipping or falling over when we go on walks so I make sure i plan ahead with dark trousers. Practically has to over rule fashion sometimes. I'd have loved to have worn a white midi skirt with this outfit but I really don't think it would have gone down well.

If you're ever in the area, you should definitely venture up to Roseberry Topping, it's not actually that long of a walk and the views from the top are stunning.

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Outfit: Clinging Onto The Last Bit Of Summer

First things first, apologies for neglecting my blog a bit recently... We've had quite a lot going on during the past few weeks - Me and Dan are upping sticks and relocating to Leeds so I've been in a bit of a whirlwind, having to find a new job as well as more importantly somewhere to live. Pretty scary but exciting times lie ahead for us! In all honesty I'm stressing myself out a bit with the whole moving out malarkey, so tonight is set aside for blog writing and a bit of a pamper.

I feel like I'm clinging onto the last bit of Summer with todays' outfit, I don't know about you guys but we've had our heating on already, which in August is really really upsetting. Brrr!!
Todays' outfit is really comfy & probably one of my favourite go-to outfits, it's simple, it's sleek & who doesn't love a pop of pink? I picked up these cigarette trousers on an Oxford Street binge earlier in the year after featuring them on a 'Lust List' & by god am I glad to have got them. I love the shape, the hot pink colour & trying to not sound like an old woman but... (I'm going to say it anyway) because they're made from a thick woolen material, they're super super warm, which is an added bonus because of the bad weather we've been having. My white blouse I bought recently, it's cut out at the back slightly, which I love, - It can be worn with a jacket as a simple white tee or equally in an outfit like todays' where it can take a bit more centre stage. I've accessorised with a tan barrel bag & tan loafers, because tan goes with everything right? Jewellery wise I've gone all out, I don't normally wear heaps of jewellery but after buying these two necklaces from Charmed Ivy last week, I've been inspired!

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Jewellery: Charmed Ivy

I recently received an email from Charmed Ivy notifying me and inviting me over to view their new and improved website. I was instantly drawn towards the UK based brand for a couple of reasons, 1 because I love jewellery (duh) and 2 because I really admire the respect & appreciation you get from smaller retailers.
The website is so easy to use with a huge variety of products and after having a good browse around I decided on these four items.

Ganesh Necklace £6.00
Horne of Selene Necklace £4.50
Solar Necklace £5.00
April Violets Bracelet £4.50

Charmed Ivy's jewellery is of excellent quality, especially considering the price. Everything on the website is so so affordable & with a £1 delivery charge for anywhere in the UK, you literally can't go wrong.
I love all of my choices, especially the April Violets bracelet, I love how chunky the stone is and actually don't think I've seen anything like it before on the high street.
Being a smaller retailer, I'm not just a number to Charmed Ivy & you can see that they really appreciate the business you've given them as a customer. I love brands that are clearly grateful, keeping in touch & letting you know how your orders progressing. It gives them a much more of a professional and personal edge in comparison to larger retailers.

I absolutely urge you to check out this brand. They're absolutely amazing with such gorgeous products & excellent customer service!

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Hits & Misses: Teen Choice Awards 2014

I always look forward to Award ceremonies when they're on the telly, whether it be The Brits, The Oscars or in this case The Teen Choice Awards. I probably should be more interested in what the awards are actually for but truth be told it's the fashion which really captures my attention. With every ceremony there's those who get it right & others that get it so so wrong. We'll start with those who get it right...

Hit: Cat Deeley.
Firstly let me start by saying I hope I look this good at 37! Cat's style has been a favourite of mine for many years - She seems to get it right every time & the Teen Choice Awards is no exception. The neon orange dress is very on trend colour wise and looks fabulous with Cats' tan. The lilac embroided flowers around the waist & perfectly plunging neckline add a really feminine and delicate touch. Cats' footwear is about as simple as you can get, that's not a bad thing though, I couldn't imagine wearing anything else with such a bold coloured dress.

Hit: Italia Ricci.
I love the idea of going away from a typical evening dress at award ceremonies like The Teen Choice Awards and this Lovers And Friends jumpsuit it just amazing! I think the cut of this jumpsuit is what really makes it! The neckline is so flattering, paired with the skinny trousers gives a fantastic shape. She looks fabulous right? I love the deep emerald green & think it looks very on trend with the gold heels and arm cuffs.

Hit: Kylie Jenner.
A lot of crop tops were seen on the blue carpet at The Teen Choice Awards & Kylie Jenners' take on the trend ticked all the boxes for me! This Neil Barrat crop & Sass and Bride skirt make for a pretty simplistic look, but people generally say the simplest things are often the most beautiful! The skirt adds real interest to Kylies' outfit, the golden tones work perfectly with her skin colouring & the festival print keeps it looking age appropriate. The shoes are fabulous & I love how she's painted her toenails to match.. It's all in the finishing touches!

Hit: Taylor Swift.
I'll be completely honest and say never in a million years would I think I'd be raving about Swiftys' style. Her usual super short shorts & brogues unfortunately just don't do it for me. This ensemble however is amazing! I think I must really be into the colour green at the moment because this is what really caught my eye, that and those fantastic lemon yellow Charlotte Olympia heels! It's a perfect combination!!

And now for those who I thought didn't do so well...

Miss: Bella Thorne.
I really don't get what's going on here - I hate criticising but the shape of the dress is just all wrong for me. The print would have looked much nicer too if the flowers were a bit smaller and daintier, I think they look a bit 'in your face' here. I like the heels here but for me it's just too much blue! I'm really funny about wearing too much of the same colour, I like to mix things up a bit more. I've heard people raving about this outfit & obviously everyones' tastes are different but unfortunately this just doesn't work for me.

Miss: Jordin Sparks.
I'm normally a fan of Jordins fashion & think she's a really beautiful lady, but again this outfit just doesn't do it for me. Starting from the top, I think the bralet looks too small for her frame, this would have looked much nicer if it had little capped sleeves or even a crew neck perhaps. The trousers I'm a bit on the fence about, I can't decide whether I love or hate the print but whatever I think, there's just too much of it going on here. The material looks a bit too shiny too, it's just really not my thing. Sowwie!

Miss: Kendall Jenner.
Kendal should tick all the boxes with an all white everything outfit, but this jumpsuit to me is just utterly bizarre. The neckline & shape of the top seems a bit mismatched, I'm really not keen on the silhouette it gives her - How strange! And the mesh inserts to the sides of her trouser legs? Again I really don't know what's going on with these, the whole outfit's just a bit 'mehh' to me. Kendalls' make up here though is phenomenal, one thing I am a fan of!

Miss: Kim Kardashian.
After slagging off Kendalls outfit, here I am with an other 'Miss' from Kim K. She looks amazing considering she's just had a baby, but again this outfit just doesn't work for me. The top half looks a bit too stiff, I don't mind leather clothing but this looks like the most uncomfortable outfit ever! Almost as if she could have done with the next size up, (sorry KK) I can imagine her walking rather robotically down the blue carpet. The skirt I don't mind, but the shoes here are probably my biggest bug bearer. I really dont like shoes where the straps twist over your ankle, It makes Kims' ankles look really strange, as if they're twisting round too. Maybe that's me being weird though.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on my Hits & Misses. Did you agree or disagree with my picks?

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Beauty: The Marvellous Transformer

After discovering Garniers' Ultimate Blends range a couple of months ago and originally starting with  'The Sleek Restorer' I've decided to branch off and try 'The Marvellous Transformer'. I did try 'The Silky Smoother' in between but have to say I wasn't totally impressed - This one though, this is another story!...

I stopped straightening my hair a few months ago and have been trying to take as best care of it as possible. My hair's come on leaps and bounds since going 'au naturale' and I've found the shampoos and conditioners from the Garnier Ultimate Blends range have helped massively.

Todays' review is of 'The Marvellous Transformer' which does exactly what it says on the tin, my hair has been pretty dull and was lacking shine but with this it's completely transformed! I feel like my hair has never looked so good - Without sounding big headed of course!

'The Marvelous Transformer' contains argan & Japanese camelia oils, which is a recipe for success when it comes to restoring the life back into dull and lifeless hair. Even after one wash I could really feel the difference with my hair, it's thicker, looks healthier & has a fantastic shine to it. I've been using this product for a week now & I honestly can't recommend it enough, the difference it's made to how my hair feels is phenomenal. After years of straightening my hair, and even more years of trying to find something to fix it, I've finally found it with Ultimate Blends. Hallelujah!!

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Outfit: Bitches

Hey folks, today I'm home alone so I'm doing a much needed catch up on blog posts, photo editing & emails. Dans' actually away in Leeds at the moment, he's down there for a few job interviews so the prospect of upping sticks and moving house is pretty likely - Scary, but exciting times are ahead! So watch this space.

Today I'm wearing two newies, a monochrome silk bomber from a recent shopping trip into Middlesbrough & this fabulously witty Sheinside Bitches white tee. I'm huge lover of black and white outfits & reading through other peoples blogs I'm not the only one -  It's much loved classic look.
After receiving my Sheinside parcel I had a good route around my purchases and was a bit hmm about this Bitches tee, but after putting it together in an outfit I actually quite like it. It's not as cropped as I first thought, which was the main reason I was unsure about it. I love the Bitches slogan & funnily didn't get any disappointed looks from people in the street - Which is always a brucie bonus!
I feel very 90's with this Primark bomber, I didn't know how comfy it'd be especially with its elasticated sleeves and bottom but honestly I absolutely love it. In fact, I want another one! It's so comfy, the print is awesome & I love the silky smooth material. And really, any hint of the 90's is good with me!

Have you got any witty slogan tee's?

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Haul: Sheinside Hits & Misses

Following my previous 'Hits & misses' post and your fabulous comments referencing how you've not seen this type of post done on other peoples' blogs before, I'm carrying on with another... From Sheinside. After seeing one of Amy Valentines' vlogs a few weeks ago and noticing how affordable Sheinside clothes were, I just couldn't help myself...

1. Bitches Capped sleeve top £6.60
Before ordering, this was my favorite item from the bunch, I absolutely love the bitches slogan especially wrapped in the love heart. It's two complete opposites, but they work so well together! I ordered this in a Medium thinking it'd look lovely over sized however I didn't realise it's slightly cropped. I'm unsure about crop tops, I really don't know if I can get away with them, I think I'm going to keep this though and give it a go, even if it's just for the Bitches slogan.

2. Jade Green Bracelet £3.16
I absolutely love this! I don't think there's much I can say about this bracelet really, it is what it is. The only pointer I have is that the chain is really quite long allowing the bracelet to shrink down suiting even the tiniest wrists like mine. Wahey!

3. High Waist Flare Midi Skirt £9.02
This ones a bit hit and miss, it's super super flared, almost ridiculously flared. So bear that in mind when ordering because I don't think you can tell from the image. I'm slightly disappointed with the waistband on the skirt I have to say, I know it's really cheap but I wish it'd been a bit better put together. I'm not sure weather I'm going to keep this or not because I thought it'd look perfect with a tucked in cami but the waistband is really really off putting. Dilemmas, dilemmas.

4. Cut Out Blouse £8.01
And finally my favourite item of the lot (after trying on) is sucha simple yet stylish white blouse. Firstly the material of this is amazing, it's got the right amount of clingy-ness for it to look fitted but not too tight that you're showing off your little love handles. I love the simpleness as well of this top, the cut out arms are very on trend at the moment, and you cant see from the picture but at the back is a giant split exposing your lower back. Super super lovely! I'll deffinitely be getting some wear of this!!

Overall I'd say I'm pretty impressed with Sheinside, I love how affordable everything is however I think you need to bear in mind the quality of the products may not be totally up to scratch. Price wise though I think they're brill. I'm still really unsure about the skirt, I'll probably end up keeping it because it was only £9 but out of the four items it's definitely my least favorite.

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Outfit: Art Deco Collar Clips

Today I'm going into Middlesbrough holiday clothes shopping with my friend Hannah, unfortunately I'm not actually going on holiday myself, she's off to Tennerife (jammy sod) so I'm going along for a bit of a mooch & a day out. I'll be writing up a little haul post sometime during the next week.

Todays' outfit is pretty casual with my shirt & collar clips adding a tailored twist. I bought these a little while ago after discovering Sister Vintage when I first started blogging, i think they make a fabulous addition to my outfit. I love the simplistic gold chain matched with the neon pink/art deco clip. Even though they're quite bright I can imagine wearing them with loads of different outfits weather it be jewel tones like today or pretty pastel colours. I actually love these clips, as soon as I attached them to my shirt collar I instantly felt so well put together & feel they really made todays' outfit.
The rest of my outfit is pretty simplistic, leather look Miss Selfridge pants, a teal knitted jumper & my favourite Converse, perfect for a long days shopping!

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Beauty: Makeup Revolution Powder Blush

I read an Article earlier in the year which said the average womans' make up bag contains £220 worth of cosmetics, which to a makeup novice like myself makes absolutely no sense. To me £220 is a weeks holiday away or an expensive day trip down Oxford Street in London - You can tell I'm more into fashion than I am beauty can't you. The article mentioned Makeup Revolution, a fantastically affordable new beauty brand to be stocked in Superdrug. I'm all for finding a bargain and have been using Makeup Revolution products for a little while now, and it's two powder blushers I'll be reviewing for you today.

Left: Love
Right: Now

These two colours caught my eye for two very different reasons: 'Love' is a really wearable almost bronzer type coloured blush for those days when less is more, and 'Now' is great for dewy summer looks or even nights out as it's a bit pinkier. Both of them I have to say I am extremely pleased with and with a £1 price tag I think they're both bloody marvelous! I love the pigmentation in these products, the colour in both of them is really strong & lasts all day too, so top marks for staying power! I hate it, especially in Summer, when makeup just seems to disappear from your face. These little pots of loveliness seem to last for ages too, I've been using them both for around a month now and as you can see I've barely make a mark in them. Hooray! The only downside I have to mention is the packaging, it does look a little cheap & maybe isn't of the best quality but when you're paying £1 for such a lovely blush, who bloody cares!

Have you tried any Makeup Revolution products?

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Outfit: Carhartt Check

I'll be completely honest and tell you that todays outfit wasn't really what I was planning to wear - In fact earlier on I had cute little cami top & kimono on, but decided to switch for something a bit thicker & a bit cosier. I think I'm turning into a complete old woman, it's the middle of August and I'm cold. Like what the hell?...

As much as I've complained about it being cold, I've still got my jelly shoes on, daft I know, but I wanted to show off my new beaded anklets. These were picked up from holidays in the local (what I call) 'tat shops' you know the type with the hugging salt & pepper pots and penis bottle openers.
Over my dusty pink top I've chucked on Dans' Carharrt checkered shirt - Honestly I want to buy one for myself, it's so thick and cosy :-) and just feels totally luxurious & expensive. Some things I think it's worth spending a bit more money on and getting something of really good quality, and this is one of those items. I don't think you can loose with something like this as I can't see checkered shirts going out of fashion any time soon - They're a good staple piece. I love the colours in this too, it reminds me of the classic red tartan print you get, in fact I'm after a red tartan cape at the moment so any tips on that would be very much appreciated.
As I'm on my way out I've thrown on my Topshop aviator jacket, I like how casual this looks especially with the (fake) sheepskin trim.

Have you guys done any outfit posts wearing your other halves clothes?

Beauty: Orangeasm Body Wash

Sooooo I'm going to have to be really careful with how I spell this one today guys... I do love a good 'play on words' though - Today I'm reviewing Soap & Glory's Orangeasm.

I was given this a few months ago when it was first released, as part of my birthday box and sadly I'm only just getting round to reviewing it - I'm not totally into make up & don't own a great deal of it, but what I lack in cosmetics I make up for in bath smellies & all things skincare. In my bathroom I have two large wicker hampers full of all sorts of bathing goodies & unfortunately Orangeasm has been unknowingly pushed towards the bottom - Not for much longer though! Not now it's been rediscovered!
Obviously with a name like Orangeasm this body wash has the most fantastically zingy fragrance to it & it's one of those that gets better the more you lather it into your skin. And the (not so scientific) reason behind that is that it's packed full of Mandarins, Oranges & Sicillian Lemons, sounds like the perfect smoothie right? I believe whats good for you inside, is also good for you outside.
Orangeasm lathers up relatively well, not as good as other S&G products I've tried I have to say, but overall I'm really impressed with this product. It's left my skin feeling super silky and so so smooth, its fantastic - And the citrus smell lingers around for so long, it's an added bonus.
I love that it comes with a pump as well, rather than having a screw top, you get so much more out of the bottle with a pump function.

There are another two products in the Orangeasm range, a body butter and fragrance.I'd love to see some of your reviews on these products as I've not tired them.

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Outfit: My Two Favourite Quality Streets

As soon as I put these two pieces together this morning, the first thing that sprung to mind was Quality Streets & my two favourites... The purple one & the green triangle! This is going to sound really sad, but the thought of looking like a giant Quality Street made me feel all giddy and excited for the rest of the day.
Take note ladies, if you're ever feeling a bit down, just dress like your favourite confectionery- It works a treat! Ha.

As much as I love wearing my monochromes, I do quite often like to splash a bit of colour, and more often than not when I do I like to go the whole hog and mix brights together like this emerald green skirt & plum purple cami. I like colour blocking but I feel your outfit items have to have the same colour tones to work properly - Pastel colours with pastel colours, jewel colours with jewel colours etc etc.
Todays' midi skirt comes from Primark, I've had this a few months now but to be honest I don't particularly wear it that often, It's a bit restrictive and by this I mean I should have bought the next size up! Ha. It's quite nice to wear day to day, but for an evening meal or drinks out with friends unfortunately it's a deffinite no no. It's a shame really because it's such a lovely colour - That'll teach me to buy things without trying them on wont it!
I've teamed my midi with a simple purple cami, again this is something really sad, but I love wearing this because I have a bra which matches the plum colour exactly! I really hate having unmatching bra straps on show, it's just all a little but messy isn't it... But maybe that's my inner bra snob coming out?

What do you think of my Quality Streets inspired outfit?
