Outfit: Contrast Capped Sleeves

My boyfriend & friends are going out this weekend & I've stupidly nominated myself to do overtime at work! 'Think of the money' people say... Whereas in my head all I'm thinking is 'Think of how much fun i could have been having'. Today is final fling, and even though I'm no longer at University people still get the opportunity to go (apart from me of course!) I'm also missing my friend Terri's birthday this weekend - adding even more salt to the wounds! Everybody's off to York races which will be the best time & have the most fun, I've never been before but would absolutely love to go. Bloody typical eh!
Anyway, while I've got the house to myself I thought i'd cheer myself up by putting a dress on, doing my nails & wearing a bit of coral lippie! Almost the same right?... Pfft

My dress today was a bargain £5.00 from Primark - I originally bought this for holiday last year & will be wearing it right through to holiday this year! It's a little shorter than I would have liked but for £5.00 you absolutely can't go wrong. I've added a black & gold belt to bring it in at my waist & emphasise the skater style skirt. The belt originally came with a hot pink playsuit but works just as well on other more casual outfits like this. I had these ankle boots for a while now, i remember lusting after a Topshop pair for months & then finding these lookelikes in New Look for a third of the price! Bargain! I love it when that happens. Also, how cool is this bag! I love rucksack style bags & this ones just perfect!

Hope you're all having a much more exciting weekend than I am!!

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love!

Adventures: Family Time In Helmsley

After moving out from my parents & in with my boyfriend in October last year I haven't spent that much quality time with my mum, dad & sister. Granted i go round every week  but I rarely spend a full day there, maybe only a morning or afternoon. So with it being a bank holiday weekend and knowing everyone would be off work I suggested having a bit of Family Time & adventuring out. My dad loves walking & adventuring so decided upon a trip to Helmsley.

I've decided Helmsley is the place i would like to live! It's a ridiculously cute, quaint little market town, literally in the middle of nowhere! It's full of stone walled cottages, thatch rooves & posh tea rooms - It's perfect! I'm only a lottery win away from living there!!
Like I said my dad absolutely loves walking, he's one of those people with all the kit, mooching about whether it be glorious sunshine or (more often than not) pouring down with rain! He knew exactly were to go & had us out for four hours trailing the North Yorkshire Moors. Normally Dad has us up & down mountains, but this walk was relatively easy & it only rained for about 5 minutes, so pretty good if you ask me.

It was lovely to spend some time goofing around with my sister & forgetting we're young adults!

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Outfit: I Finally Got A Kimono

I've been looking for a Kimono for months & never found anything that was just right or ticked all the boxes. My dilemma has always been finding something I love and it being totally ridiculously expensive. Typical isn't it! I can't justify spending £60 on a tiny thin piece of material though... But this week I've finally succeeded and It only cost me a tenner! Woo.
What a complete bargain!!

I found this kimono tucked away in the darkest depths of Primark in Middlesbrough. I was shopping on my own so I had the chance to have a good look round, which I don't normally get the opportunity to do as I'm normally there with my boyfriend, who hates Primark, so it's always a straight in straight out type of job. I do enjoy a proper route around in there - It does take dedication & concentration though.
I love this kimono!! It's a long length, which is exactly what I was after & has a fabulous monochrome aztec style print to it. I'm beyond happy with this, especially after months of searching - Primark have come up trumps yet again!
Seen as though the weathers taken a turn for the worst, I've teamed my kimono with a pair of black leather look skinnies, vest top & ankle boots!

I'm looking forward to summer coming & being abe to wear this with cute dresses or shorts :-) Would love to see how you've styled you Kimonos'.

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love!

Adventures: 3 Years Anniversary At The Manor. Part 2

Last week I wrote about being with my boyfriend a grand total of 3 years! Catch my post here. Okay so it's not the longest amount of time but it's definitely something worth celebrating & we certainly did just that! Any excuse eh?

These pictures are all taken from our second day in Windermere, when we walked & explored for what seemed like forever! And ever!

Our first treck (yes there was multiple trecks!) consisted of an almost pretty flat walk from Ambleside to Skelwith Tarn. We're not avid walkers, as you can see from my hoody & skinny jeans but it's nice to get out and enjoy the countryside. I find it bizarre you can drive 2 hours from home and be greeted with these fabulous views! A complete different world to Middlesbrough.

Secondly we were advised by my friend Leon to visit Orrest Head, he has family over in Windermere so knows the place like the back of his hand & we had to act upon his recommendation! This was walking distance from our hotel - But boy was it tough! To get to the top it was a constant uphill for around about twenty minutes, which doesn't seem to bad, but when you've already walked for miles on the morning it's a complete different story! The views from the top however were absolutely amazing! You get a 360 view across Lake Windermere & the rolling hills, it's just fab!

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Outfit: A Walk In The Park

Top boyfriend points today for Dan, picking this gorgeous location in front of a blossom tree to get some pics taken. We've been trying to make the most of the sunshine by venturing out as much as possible so tonight we decided to go to Stewarts Park in Middlesbrough.

I'm wearing a few newies today - This block dress I actually picked up earlier this morning from Primark, there was this monochrome one as well as a pastel blue version. I think i'm going to go back for the blue though, as I love how light & perfect for summer this is. My only quibble with it is that it's quite a see through material so shorts/leggings are a must! It sort of makes me feel a bit 'Rough Copy'... Anyone else remember them from The XFactor? I don't know what it is but I feel like I could be their fourth member. I've opted for a pair of somple black leggings & white pumps. I had this same pair last year and they lasted all through summer, I literally wore them everyday, in and out the water on holiday and mooching about on other adventures. They're £7.99 from New Look so to me, they're a total bargain! Another newie is my black leather look rucksack, I don't know if you can tell from these pictures but it's really big & slouchy - Ideal for fitting everyday essentials in.

Hope you've all been enjoying the sunshine! Would love to know what you've been getting up to?

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Outfit: Tangerine Topshop Twist

Today I've done as all us Brits do as soon as the sun peeks its head through the clouds & hit the beach! I'm lucky that the nearest beach is only a 15 minute drive from home so we scooted straight over to make the most of the day. Surprisingly though it was really windy on the seafront so some of the photos are a bit windswept & interesting (and me being painfully pale) but you know, you get the jist...

I have to start by saving this is my absolute favourite dress ever! I'm actually surprised I haven't blogged about it before - or at least I don't think I have. I've had it for a few years now & bought it from Topshop for a friends birthday, to wear with those suspender tights when they were all the rage! Shows how long I've had it, right? Not only is this dress a gorgeous tangerine colour, it fits perfectly and its made from a lovely light silky material - perfect to wear with bare legs now the weathers getting a bit nicer! The twist from the top half & bottom half makes the dress really flattering too!
This is also the first outing of my DYO necklace I made as part of NE1's Newcastle Fashion Week (Find my blog here) I love the contrast of the jade green beads together with my tangerine dress & think they work absolutely fab together.

Hope you've all likewise been enjoying the sunshine today!

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.

Event: NE1's Newcastle Fashion Week Event - DYO Pre Launch Party

Yesterday I attended my first ever bloggers event - As part of the fringe event for NE1's Newcastle Fashion Week, DYO put on a 'Prelaunch Party' at Nancy's Bordello close to the city centre & quayside. It was a fab event, from start to finish! Being greeted with wine and cupcakes is always a bonus, but we got to make & take home our own Princess Pendants which was just fabulous!

DYO Fabulous Jewellery (Or Design Your Own Fabulous Jewellery) have come up with a brilliant concept & niche in the market when it comes to jewellery!.. Being able to design unique jewellery incorporating ethically sourced semi precious stones & beads. So not only will you be doing good, but you'll also have some fabulous jewellery that no one else will have!

We had a presentation led by Janet, the founder of DYO, who confessed (again & again) her love for jewellery as well as explaining her journey, from sourcing all the different components to setting up the web interface. Janet explained the darker secrets behind where our average high street jewellery comes from (which is pretty horrible btw) and discussed how passionately feels about ethically sourcing all the different components to make up DYO fabulous jewellery - Janet handpicks these components from artisans all over the world, so your jewellery really does tell a story. The 'Design Your Own' interface is really easy too... To begin with there's a template of three necklace lengths, collar, princess & matinee, from here you can click and drag over different pendants, chains, bead choices & clasps to make something that is unique to yourself! There are so many different choices too - It's difficult to choose, especially for an indecisive bugger such as myself!

DYO also offer a service where you can send in old jewellery items, such as an old pearl necklace, to be made into something bespoke and completely new! They colour match too!.. Janet gave an excellent example of a bride wanting to match her dress to her jewellery, so a swatch of material can be sent over to DYO to match up with some fabulous specially made jewellery!

Towards the end of the afternoon we had the opportunity to make our own Princess Pendant necklace. We selected our own chains, clasps, pendants & beads to make up our bespoke necklaces. I opted for muted more natural colours as they will go with a variety of outfits, however chose a chunkier than normal chain to do something a bit different.

Here's my finished princess pendant! How fab is it - I'm super pleased with how it's turned out. I'm surprised actually at how long it took for me to complete the necklace, it's a lot harder than I thought it was going to be, but competing it & doing it myself makes me love it more!
I won the bracelet too in a lucky dip! Yay :-)

I absolutely loved my first bloggers event & and meeting other bloggers from the North East. Thank you DYO for inviting me!.... I'm proud to say I'm a fabulite!

Thanks for taking a look. Lots of love.
